You remain fertile for a few loads after, until your body purges whats already there.  But after that just call yourself Coffee Mate, for you will be a non-dairy creamer.

you don't need a vasectomy.   just don't have sex with women. limit your sex to other species, dogs, cats, birds,     All kidding aside.  How old are you?  Your thoughts on this might change  in a couple years and although vasectomies are reversable now for the most part, it is likely something you really don't want to go through.   What are the thoughts of your girlfriend/wife?   I didn't want kids for a long time.  But I'm glad I did not get a vasectomy.  I met the right woman and my kids are truly a blessing and comfort.

Nothing is 100% , It's got a better track record than the pill I'd bet. Been 5 years for me w/ no surprises. FWIW Insurance companies will usually pay for it 100%  the $700.00 +/- for the operation is pretty cheap compared to BC pills/patches over a period of time. Just do it, it's harder on your brain than your balls

I had it done about 12 years ago after my daughter was born.

my ex thought I had it done because of her.  I just didn't want more than one kid.

since then, 'relations' are worry free and more frequent because no 'planning' is involved.

my doc told me that sometimes 'Life happens' when I got mine.

a distant relative almost got a divorce because his s/o got preggers 2 yrs after the Big Snip....turned out that 'Life Happened'.

the current technique is to remove a 1/4" section of the vas deferens (sp?), cauterize each end, fold them over and clip.  The idea is to end up with a 3/4" gap with sealed ends.  If the clips fall off, there's still a 1/4" gap and sealed ends so even the strongest swimmers can't get through and the vas ends can't grow back together.

I don't have exact numbers, but my doc said that something like 1 out of 10,000 of this procedure doesn't take....drawback is that this type of vasectomy is MUCH harder to reverse, so make absolutely sure that you want this.

(and if you decide to go this route, make sure you're stocked up on frozen peas.)

Our neighbor's son-in-law "claimed" to have had one.  I say "claimed" because since the operation, they have had a set of twins and she is currently pregnant.

**If he did have the operation, he didn't go back to test for live ones.

I don't remember too much pain, but it was sore for a while.

the ice helps keep the swelling down (no, not that kind!)

well, I didn't ride my motorcycle for about a week.

It took close to a month to start feeling 'normal', and I got an ocaisional twinge when I moved wrong for better than 6 months.  Doc told me that my experience was not the norm.

Any way you slice it (pun intended) if I had to do it all over again....IN A HEARTBEAT!

There's nothing that feels as good as worry- free, bareback, rootin'-around-drop-of-the-hat lovin'.

No more wondering if she remembered to take her pill, no more ruining the moment scrambling for the box of condoms....no more dangerous late night high speed emergency runs to the store if you happen to run out...you get to get your freak on whenever/wherever....spontaneous, worry free, hot-jungle sex, just like it's supposed to be.

(side note:  It is NOT necessary to shave your junk before the procedure anymore....damn, but that was embarrassing.....and it ITCHED for a MONTH!!!!)

yea, how old are you??? This is not a decision to take lightly or rashly. Condoms aren't that expensive.

younger guys wanting a V will often be sent to a shrink for evaluation before they cut.
They did it to me at 24

Well, their wives had children anyway. Doesn't mean they fathered them . . .

Ok, year ago when I got my "V" I was told that there have been a few rare cases where the tubes crossed and somehow grew back together in such a manner that the little raskels where able to swim back through the reconnected tube and make the made rush out of the head.

The procedure when I had mine done might have been improved on. They cut out a inch of the Vas Defferen (SP?). Then burnt the ends and added some clips. I think also that the Doc tied the upper tube up in a fashion to keep it away from the end at the nuts. But all doctors will suggest that every once in awhile you do a sperm count test. I would, but the nurses dont do anything for me..

Just joking if you read this babe.

VASCECTOMY URBAN MYTH

Was stationed with a guy a few years ago who had a vascectomy and then knocked his wife up. Story was that, he went back to the doctor to get his money back because the operation didn't work. The doc talked him into a little exploratory surgery to see what went wrong......and found a 3rd tube down there.

THIS ONE REALLY HAPPENED......

Another guy, a pilot I knew, got a vascectomy and banged his wife that same night(ex ranger, guess he was into pain......). Knocked her up too. Nearly got divorced because he couldn't understand how it could happen, and didn't believe it was his until it was born and the DNA results came back.

They had 8 kids before that......

Condoms ain't expensive, but kids damn sure are!

I had mine done about 1.5 years after I was married.  Doc asked me if I was certain I did not want kids?  I was certain.

That was in 1996, I think.

Worry free ever since.

If you clear out the plumbing after the vasectomy, your chances are very very small of fathering a child.   My doc told me to be sure and use protection until the tests came back free of swimmers.   Your doc should have you bring back a sample in 3-4 weeks and then again in another month or two to verify you are OK.

Most of my friends and I have had the V successfully for a number of years now.  However, one of my college freinds got knocked up about five years after the big V.  Turns out her husband had some olympic class swimmers that jumped the gap.  Doc redid the V and they've now about 5 more years without any further kids.
