I shudder the next time i need to send a firearm off for repairs and have it sent back by FED-EX. The last time they attempted to leave it at someone else's house.
I wound up going to the FED-EX central office in this area to pick it up.

You should have used UPS

Would have, but the company I ordered from doesn't allow the option of choosing UPS or DHL...
But I also sent a nasty but professional letter to both FedEx and the other company

Repeat after me... "I swear to never use DHL in any of my shipping needs"

I had over 1000 bucks worth of goods stolen from me by DHL because the box i packaged them in had a pellet gun on the outside....
Constantly gave me the run around and told me that all i could get from them was 100 bucks for a lost shipment. fucking bullshit...I still wanna blow up every DHL van i see to this day for them jacking my stuff.

From now on I only use UPS and insure and delivery confirmation everything.

And if they had just left it on your porch without a signature you would be bitching about that also. Its not thier job to wait around for the most convinent time FOR YOU. Other people have shit that needs delivery also.

So, the entire commerce world revolves around your lunchbreak?
If it was so damn importiant, why were you not avalable on the day of delivery? It states clearly in the tracking info what day it will be delivered.

all you have to do is specify shipment hold at the federal express facility closest to you for pickup.  Feel free to go durring your lunch hour because customer service is important enough to them that they don't shut down thier business for lunch.

I just opt to pick it up at the sorting facility. UPS is just as bad in my area so USPS Priority is the only one that I do business with

If it's going to your house, then the most logical time to catch an employed person at home who's waiting for a package is at lunchtime.

The rest of the day they would be at work.

I've been known to order stuff and have a trusted friend wait at my house for the order.  They don't care who signs for it, as long as they are at your address to accept it, unless you have special shipping instructions.  It works.  If you call the company you can usually negotiate a pickup at the local shipping terminal.  I've done this with UPS about a half dozen times.  No big deal either way.
