let me attempt to play devil's advocate. most white people know their ethnic ancestry. as such, we can have things like "italian-american movie awards" or "irish-american movie awards", and these would be perfectly acceptable. most black people aren't familiar with their specific ethnic/tribal ancestry, and thus the most specific awards that can given are "black movie awards" or "african american movie awards" |
