What do i look for so i can rig this thing to stay on? My room gets stuffy at night, and its getting cool enough outside the A/C doesnt kick on.... I wanna rig it so when I turn it on, it blows cold air all the time.....

Doesn't it have a thermostat?

If it is getting cool enough at night that the AC will not kick on try just putting a fan in the window.

I cant really do that.. No screens on the windows.

Some have a Fresh Air device built in that is 'select fire'.  Use it if you have it.  The less expensive models don't have the fresh air option and the air recirculates in the room.  It will never be fresher than it is at that time, only colder.

If you jumper over the thermostat it will not shut off.....  at least until the evap. coil ices up and blows up the compressor....   but until that happens you should be pretty cool.

The thing stays on during the summer time, so not worried about icing over... Just want it cold when I sleep... Also, its a cheap unit.. no fresh air crap...

Then all you can do is to turn the thermostat all the way down.  It will only cut off when the room; or the air in front of the unit, reaches the programed target temperature. You should look into a room air purifier or eat less beans.

Uhhhh yeah, and in the summer time it is warm outside. Why don't you spend the $40 that you will pay for A/C this month and buy a screen for your double wide trailer window?

don't they all have a "fan" setting that draws outside air in?

if it's cooler outside than inside, you don't need to run the compressor

Nope.  The fan setting on the cheaper models is only the fan running without the compresser.

In the summer time there is more than enough heat in the area (room) to keep it de-iced. When it get cooler outside the condensing temperatures get lower and so does the suction (evap) pressure and it WILL ice up. Liquid refrigerant will no longer boil off without a decent heat transfer and the returning liquid to your compressor WILL wash the oil out the bearings in the compressor crankcase, and then it WILL blow up your compressor.... THEN you can buy a fancier unit with fresh air/fan only control. I'm not trying to be a smart ass at all. I've been in HVAC/R business for over 25 years and it's my job. I'm just trying to let you know the consequences of leaving it on continually. Like I said earlier, if that's what you want, just make a short piece of wire and jumper it over the 2 thermostat connections and it won't ever shut off...   for awhile
