Helio, the phone service... Yeah, it's geared toward the younger crowd, but I've been looking at the devices and service, and since my current cellular service contract should be up this month, I MIGHT consider switching.... but I have some questions and curiosities about it. Currently, I have a RAZR, and am on Cingular. I don't use a lot of talk time, maybe 100 minutes a month or so, but I sometimes do text message a lot. So much that I had the 200 message plan, went way over, and had to switch to the 1000 message plan. My monthly bill is around $60. So I checked out Helio. I can get a 500 minute plan, with nights & weekends free, for $65. The good thing is, all the messaging, including MMS, picture and video messages, email and surfing the web on the phone is all unlimited. I'm trying to figure out some things about the handsets, tho. I like the Kickflip one (the one that rotates open) I've found that, unfortuantely, you can't use it as a modem for a laptop. Darn. But I can live with that. Some things I want to know about it: -Is there a headphone/line out jack... basically, can it be used as a portable MP3 player? -What kind of add in memory card does it use? -Is the memory card/memory accessible as mass storage when the phone is connected to a PC via the USB cable? -Can .WAV or .MP3 clips be used as ring tones? Anyone having any ideas... I'm not sold on it yet, just curious at this point. |
