| is there by chance an arfcom group there? |
| Had it for a while, but deleted my account. I don't know if it applied to any of you, but around here employers will search facebook and myspace for candidates for employment to see what they are like when they aren't putting on a front at an interview. Drinking beer and shooting my guns may give some people the wrong impression, so none of that jazz for me. YMMV. |
How can employers search your facebook for information when they're not apart of your school? Unless you're also in a region.. |
Its true they do do it. And School's do as well.... |
Ok.. I can understand the school bit (as they can have their own account). But how can employers? Unless people are making their account open for all to see, (profile and photo albums). |
You don't even have to have a school email anymore in some cases. My younger cousins who are in HS have it now. He is correct about schools doing it too. For example, a frat had a party last year where it was, how do I put this nicely...umm Party of Color? You couldn't get in unless you brought a 40 and some fried chicken. The school heard about it, looked up some members on facebook, saw the pics, and the frat was suspended from any activities for one year as a probationary period. |
Often recent grads do the hiring, or are part of the hiring process. So that way they have access. Many people don't have their privacy settings up. |
Now that makes sense.. I wasn't calling you a liar (honestly! ). I was just not putting two and two together...I put everything too "friends viewing only", espically the pictures that I have. |
It's all good. I hear ya. But even with my privacy settings I won't put a lot of pictures on facebook, nor will I join the ARFCOM group.

poking is just messin around. no real point to it. Those lists of actions your friends do are part of a "News Feed" section that was added recently. very controversial and unpopular. However, if you go to your privacy section, you take make it so other people don't see your actions. |
