I'm not an engineer but I have some training in construction (not concrete). I would take down all the drywall especially the ceiling. Brick block up the walls and put rebar in them, floor to about three inches above blocks. Have a concrete company frame up inside to support a slab ceiling. Put twoxfours around top of blocks for the form add rebar or mesh and have the walls and ceiling poured from the top all at once. Again, I THINK this would work. Joe Something else might work better to form up the ceiling edges better than 2x4s which I think you would want to remove after it set up. Since it wont be getting wet on top maybe not. Dont forget electric or duct work, if it were me I would forgo the ducting and just put in an outlet to run dehumidifier. |
| Cheaper? Yeah but considering I'm on my second safe now and need a third its not really practical. My collection grows monthly plus the entire room will provide enough space for files, jewelry, and other stuff I want secured. It would also provide protection for Hurricanes and tornados. |
