| Say hypothetically you get a speeding ticket in SD with a drivers license from NM ...Would that ticket make it onto your driving record????? |
|
Driver License Laws South Dakota Graduated Licensing: Yes Nonresident Violator Compact: Yes Night Restrictions: Yes Passenger Restrictions: No Hours Behind the Wheel (at night in parentheses): None Social Security Number on License: Optional Duration in Years/ Expiration Date: 5/DOB or 30 days after 21st birthday Visual Acuity: 20/40 Can the Holder of a Permit From Another State Drive in Your State? While SD does have a Nonresident Violator Compact SD DOES NOT assess any points to a DL for Speeding!!! |
Since you were from out of state, I'm surprised you didn't have to pay it on the spot. I've had to do that in South Dakota before. They would only take cash or a check. [i'm old]This was several years ago so maybe they changed it.[/i'm old] |
I'm Stationed in SD just still have a NM DL! |
If you took offense at this then you are definatly not from South Dakota. Let me splain it further. The court system of many states found out that a fine is not a deterrant to speeding so they came up with a class that wastes your day going over stupid stuff everyone already knows. A wasted day at school mandated is what I was referring to. Kind of like after schoool detention, punishment by wasting your time. |
You are correct I am not from SD as stated in my previous post above. |
