Guys I need some suggestions. I want some software that will allow me to capture the image from my web cam and record it to cd or dve. My cam is USB, and nothing like that came with the software included. No, not making porn, freeware, shareware preferred.

You wouldn't be able to go directly from webcam to CD or DVD.    The software that I use for watching my house when I'm gone is called Active WebCam by PYSoft.  It does motion detection  or just plain recording.  To get the best recording quality for DVD you can set it to record as an AVI file so there is no compression.  Then you find a 3rd party tool that will convert AVI files to DVD files.  Then you can record those straight to DVD.

BTW, USB cameras suck at getting good high quality full motion video.  You really need a Firewire camera for that.

Just an image, or do you want to record video as well?

If you just want to record images, I wrote some stuff a while back that'll do that.  I haven't worked on it in a few years because I don't have any cameras myself anymore, but one day I'll get back on it.

If straight image capture is what you want, it'll do that, supports just about any device you can imagine.. firewire camcorders, tv tuner cards, and of course usb devices. ;)
