A little background, I'm a college student right now majoring in Psychology and minoring in Criminal Justice. I've had this path in my head for a very long time, but was never sure where it would lead, as in what kind of career I'd go into. I've been doing a lot of research lately, trying to find something I could see myself doing for the rest of my life. After a fair amount of exploration on it, I've become really interested in the CIA. It may sound kind of unrealistic, but I'm not talking about any kind of high speed low drag top top top secret kind of stuff. More along the lines of research or operational psychology. There are some psychology positions in the DC area, and I wouldn't have a problem relocating there, but I'm also very interested in foreign travel. I speak conversational German, and since fluency in a foreign language is a huge plus, I'd would be willing and happy to take more classes and speak it well. I've also looked into the FBI to a lesser extent, and would be interested in the same kind of work, but obviously domestic. So my questions to ARFCOM are; does anybody here have any experience with either of these agencies that they can talk about? Does anybody here know any reasons why I shouldn't want to work there? Are there any other similar agencies that I could do comparable work at? Thanks ahead of time, guys. |
| Thanks. Although you're probably right, I'd never think of working for anyone besides the US. I made the decision not to join the military, as I think I can make a greater contribution in this field of work, providing needed skills, while still fighting for my country and doing my best to protect it. |
I worked at CIA. If you asked specific questions, I could probably answer them. The biggest negative is, it is the FEDGOV, and is a giant bureaucracy, and you generally have to live in the DC area. State Dept. and UN are also good places for language skills. |
