I read that whole thread, while at work, in a hospital (spread it out over several shifts to kill time). Of course, I was working in transportation, not the ER, but I volunteer on an ambulance, so I have at least some connection to that area.

There needs to be a legally empowered 'common sense' arbiter for the ER.

If you did (or, as it appears is frequently the case, still in the process of doing) something that's just too stupid, they don't let you in.  No appeal, no lawsuit.

"Sorry, they were just too stupid.  There was nothing we could do."

Some funny shit in there.

Stupid people have their lives extended by the ER...

A friend of mine is a nurse and she had a patient that was batshit insane. She was like a cutter but she took it to the extreme, she loved having surgery. So when she was released from the hospital for what ever she was in for she went home, took the bunny ears off of her TV, broke it into little pieces and started carving up her arms, thighs and stomach with the sharp ends. Then she swallowed all the pieces.
