Got the stuff at Wally W but haven't opened it yet. Has anybody done this? Is it a good idea or not? Any how to's? Advice and comments welcome. Of course we need Abu Ghraib, where else we gonna put our liberals? |

you guys have to be doing something wrong. i have been refilling inkjet carts for close to 12 years now with VERY good results. the only issue i have had is the the colors are not as bright as factory inks, and not all of them are waterproof. good ink kits are out there and they are CONSIDERABLY cheap than a new cart. I typically get 3-4 refills per cart before they die. refill on a black cart costs under 3.00 per refill, color around 6-7. Figure you will lose one refill when the cart dies you still come out WAY ahead vs buying 4 new print carts. take your time. use plastic gloves and you will never spill a drop or stain your hands. They key is filling the cart SLOWLY. also knowing if the cart must be sealed or not. Older HP carts used a BB style plug. they tended to leak if the seal was not done properly. New HP carts don't need a seal |
Yeah, we were having problems with some leakage and became curious as to what the fuse was for and that is how it was explained to us. I'm not real sure how it works since we didn't have the entire assembly, only the heater chip. |
yet one of many reason lexmark is regarded as crap. i used to work on those thing up until IBM finally dumped them to the chinease or whoever it was that bought them. They were junk then and have gotten steadily worse over the years. mike |

I use an Epson Ink Jet at home and get remanufactured cartridges from a company named Abacus on line. It is an Epson 8(cubed) and they are only a couple of bucks a piece and work great. The ink colors are not as bright but that does not bother me as I rarely print pictures. |
Doesn't matter, with most Lexmarks the damn printer will blow up before you drain the first set of cartridges. For real Adventures in Imaging though, you need that Lexy Optra color printer. We were changing cartridges every week or two due to failure in a high output environment. Had warranty service in once a month. As the warranty ran out, they sent out one final guy to do one final repair. I told him to take the fucking thing with him. I'd replace it with a $100 deskjet and get more product without leaving big blue red and yellow dust puddles all over the counter. Did too. Worked so well, we just added two more for volume and ran that way until Xerox and HP had some decent color laser units in our price range. If you don't need color, go score a Laserjet 4. Toner's $15 a pop or so, and you won't run out anytime soon. I've got one in my office built in 1992 with over 500k prints that still runs like a champ. They're like 4cyl tacomas, just can't kill 'em. |

I used to refill my Epson and HPs with the NuKote kits but only black. Back then, I was in charge of the plotters at work and would save the old cartridges, each one had about 1/2 ounce of ink left which I would reclaim. When I refilled using this ink, it was like new. |

We used to have all HP printers. Total pieces of crap. They used to fuck up all the damn time and printed SLOW and the quality wasnt that good. Cartridges were damn expensive so we refilled ourselves, but the ink wasnt as good quality. Didnt really matter though. Fuck HP printers. My friend's HP also fucks up regularly, yet she insists they r good. We have since bought a Canon colour laser printer, and a Epson R230 photo printer. Both are reliable and damn good, especially the Canon |
Try it, you might like it. Worked great on my HP. Now I have an Epson and the cartridges have a chip in them that prevents refilling. You can buy a special aftermarket cartridge that has a fake chip in it that always reports "full" so that you can refill that one, though. |
