I have and love my Surefire G2. But the other night I had a problem I did not expect. ![]() At 3:30 Am my wife an I both woke up to a slamming of out outside basement door. I grabbed my G2 and my 1911 and headed down to check it out. My G2 sits in my bedside table with the 1911 (they are good buddies who keep each other company when I am not in need of their services). I grabbed my pants as well shere I keep a Lenser 60 lummen LED on my belt (Thank God for that!!!). I hit the bottom of the steps and pressed the switch on the G@ and if it had 20 Lummens of power I would be surprised!! THe batteries where dead!!!!! I know that the batteris where fresh when put in the light 6 months ago and no one uses that light but me. I have not touched it since I placed it in the drawer. Do these things drain in the light? My kids all know that my room is off limits and they all have their own tac lights for emergencies. The light is just as I left it 6 months ago. I place a second set of batteries from the same box in the light adn it is back to blinding. |

Yeah, one or both of the batteries can go dead with no notice. It happens to mine all of the time. But I use my light a bit more often than you do, so I catch it. I use a battery checker to check the condition of the batteries. Usually one will go dead while the other tests as good. Kind of expensive to toss a good battery. |

Both good ideas.. Thanks. I just did not think about that when I put it there. I use my LED all day so that is the one I worry with most. I also have a G2 in m bug out bag. I may keep that one empty as a back up to my LED so that it will be fresh when it counts. Thanks again for the advice. |
