| I've always wanted to score one, but haven't gotten around to it. I'm seeing a lot of people talking them down lately. What's wrong with this rifle? |
Be right back, I'm going to get popcorn... I've heard things such as poor accuracy, cheap sights, expensive mags - just to name a few. These are things I've heard, I'm not speaking from experience here. I'm sure others will chime in shortly. |

When they heat up, the groups start to wander quite a bit. I had one, and found it far less picky than an AR when it comes to ammo, but other little things like the rear sight walking out when it heated up, combined with the inaccuracy, turned me off to it enough to trade it in. Finding mags used to be a major issue during the ban, as pre-ban AR mags were so much more prolific, but it's not as big a deal anymore as factory LEO hicaps are available now. |

I had a mini-14 about 9 or 10 years ago. It had a sidefolder, was reliable as hell, and not very accurate. no worse than my AK, but nowhere near as accurate as the crappiest 20"ARs I've had since(or before).I got six 20 rnd mags with the trade, so that wasn't an issue. I just never could hit with it like I could with my ARs so I traded it off for a M77 .243 with an inexpensive Simmons scope for the warden to deerhunt with. She likes it so I love it!!! |
| Good decision to skip the Mini-14. It's a plinker that can be fun. But if accuracy is your game, you're going to have to shorten the barrel or put a stabilizer on it to dampen it. For all the $$$ you'll spend, you're better off with a short heavy barrel AR for which there will be plentiful magazines. |
