This came in today's "Patriot Post" from the Federalist Patriot. The term "Insensitive Clod" doesn't beigin to explain things
ETA: Fixed a whole bunch of screwups

He has a point, insensitive or otherwise. Only a bueracracy like NY's prevent such prime real estate go to waste for 5 years. Sell it to Trump (or anybody with skill, passion, and money), and there would be 2 more monuments to capitalism in those holes in no-time. |
Ahh, yes, but I think anyone who tried to build a monument to capitalism there would be crucified as "innapropriate", as would any politician that approved the plan. Remember the uproar when it was found that the WTC steel was sold for scrap? Unless I'm behind in the news, I can't see Ground Zero being built on for a very long time. It's just too sensitive. Nagin needs to get a clue. |
9/11's death toll was higher, but I get what you're saying. I suppose that the sore point here is that Nagin was one of the people directly responsible for the debacle in NOLA, and he says stuff like this. |
|
Actually Nagin is an a..hole who occasionally says something relevant. The "chocolate city comment" really shows his racist side. I have a friend in the National Guard who is working security down there and he says that the city and area is totally f..ked. You are talking about a society that was impoverished before the disaster being more impoverished now. Quick story about Nagin I read on the internet so it must be true..... A company from Texas offered to come to the NO area and set up six car crushers to facilitate disposing of up to 25000 abandoned ruined autos in the area. They were gonna pay the city a per car fee that would have totaled about 6 million dollars for the rights to recycle the metal. Nagin said no because no local business were involved. The company withdrew the offer and now the state/city has to pay upwards of 25 million dollars to dispose of the ruined vehicles. |
I believe they've already started construction. With an actual plan of what it will look like when completed. They're not doing to badly if you ask me. They got one hell of a mess cleaned up. They've stabilized the site (below water level), got side tracked by bunch of group hug dip shits, and started construction of an actual building (not big enough if you ask me, but then I'm not paying for it). Nagin, as far as anyone can tell, doesn't even have a plan to formulate a plan. I would say a better comparison would be between NO post Katrina and Kobe or SF post major earthquake. How were they doing one year later. Were they still whining, or did they have all the rubble gone and well on their way to rebuilding. I can tell you that I was in Kobe 6 months after their big earthquake and there was essentially no rubble and the infratructure repairs were already underway. |
