I think my Dealer may have just parked the last 3-4 inches of my NM barrel inside and out

Will it shoot out or am I screwed as far as my groups are concerned?

Holy shit.

IIRC the park is a change in the surface of the metal, meaning when you remove the park the dimensions will be different. Loose bore.

Your dealer owes you a new barrel.

Throwing hotdogs down a hallway.

Oops, wrong loose bore...

Parkerizing.  If you need an explanation of the full name, your foo is weak.

Pretty stupid move on the dealers part. Truth is though, a nice smooth bore wont allow a very good reaction with the solution. That is, unless he beadblasted it too I would demand a new barrel anyway & let him keep his trophy.

Don't worry about it.

You can't hit a bull in the ass with a canoe paddle, anyway

Seriously, probably no harm done IIRC when they park it they generally park it inside and out and the first couple shots clean it right out. Hell, it may even SMOOTH the bore some by filling in the microscopic pores.

You have it totally wrong.  It's "Bull in the ass with a Bass Fiddle"

I'll hold your beer if you want to try and shoot it....

I would personally not shoot the thing and would talk with him about getting you a new barrel.

Have you seen the barrel?  Why do you think he did this?

It's canoe paddle. The same canoe I lost all of my guns in during that tragic accident.

Parking changes the bore diameter. Depending on how thick it is a Ka-Boom is a real possibility.

I'll let you shoot it first.

I wouldn't have a problem shooting it (though I wouldn't be too happy about it if it were my rifle). I used to help out a gunsmith buddy of mine in his shop, and he would never plug the bores of the barrels he was parkerizing. I thought this was a bad idea (and I still do) and I told him so, but none of his customers ever had a problem with their rifles blowing up.

So some solution leaked into the barrel...

The barrel is probably safe to shoot, about the worst that could happen is that the barrel might get ringed at the parkerizing.

I would be pissed off and expect a new barrel shortly.  Look at the rough outer surface of the parkerized gun - does that look anything like the polished interior of a good barrel?

Even if the parkerizing is polished out with JB or USP bore paste, it will likely have some flare  near the muzzle, the worst possible location in the barrel.

Call the barrel manufacturer to see what they think.

your new match barrel is now the equivilant of a used WW2 barrel now.

Sorry, but its not gonna shoot worth shit now

Throwing a hotdog down a hallway can result in brats about 9 months later...

I parked the bore of my Cetme accidentally. After running a bore brush down it many times until it was shiny again, I still get overpressure signs when shooting it.

Parkerizing is ETCHING in addition to a phospate coating. It's EXTREMEMLY rough compared to the polished finish of a match barrel. You now have the rough equivalent of a WW2 barrel that wasn't very well cared for after shooting corrosive ammo.

Needless to say, it's NOT a match barrel any more.

If it was me, I'd be telling the gunsmith to order a new barrel of equivalent quality.

IIRC, you can park a chrome-lined barrel safely without plugging it... not that it is relevant to you; if yours is a match barrel it's obviously not chromed.  Just throwing it out here for the information, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

He's probably talking about primer flattening.

Violent action cycling, violent ejection which smashes the brass, flattened primers, and bulged areas of the case near the base. I don't shoot it anymore.
