I just got a call from my mother up in NY that my dad was taken by ambulance to the hospital for chest pains, gray complexion and being very lethargic.

This happened to him about 6 months ago and they put a stent in his heart because of some blockage.  Also happened at exactly the same time in the evening (9:10pm). He was well recovered within 3 weeks of discharge and was doing fine until a couple of weeks ago.

I was hanging around with him and he complained about a heart burn.  He looked pretty pale to me, so I suggested running over to the doctor for a check up.  He upped me one and scheduled a stress test, which he passed with flying colors.  They also just let him back to work full time (white collar desk job) two weeks ago after the stress test showed him being fine.

Fast forward to today. 9:10pm, my mom walks into the living room, sees him in this condition and says she can call an ambulance, he does the stubborn routine and she does it anyway.  He was in the same place as last time - on the couch, watching tv a couple of hours after eating dinner.  No strenuous activities, no stress, just relaxing with his dog.

Does anyone have an idea of what the hell is going on or what tests can be performed to see whats up?

Sounds like they will have to do another angiogram.

What's his history?:

1) Age?
2) High blood pressure?
3) Diabetes?
4) High cholesterol?
5) Smoker/ex-smoker?

Is he on Plavix?  Sounds like he'll need another cardiac catheter.

Sounds like what I've gone through twice.  Same exact symptoms with a MI-myocardial infarction, which is a blockage of a particular vessel preventing blood from getting to the heart.

My stent, after 100% blockage of my left main happened again 2 years later-inside the stent.

I'll keep him in my prayers with the Lord and hopefully he'll be fine.  The most important thing is that he has an extremely competent cardiologist and the facilities to perform cardiac caths.

Good luck friend and pray for your Dad.

I'm not a doc but I lived through my fathers heart disease, clogged arteries and failed angioplasties and three heart attacks.  Your father's ticker needs to be checked out and he doesn't need a stress test.  His diet will be changed by the docs as well (think no more beef).  Don't let your father be stubborn, it's your turn to be the stubborn one.  Make the man get checked out ASAP and explore your options.

Good Luck to you and your family.
