You are sitting in your living room watching TV with your family. Suddenly you hear shots close by. You instinctivley put your family down on the floor, grab your weapons, and go to investigate. As you cautiosly peer out teh window from a distance, you see cops firing, Just then you become aware of rounds impacting your house. You notice some cops are shooting at your house, some at the nieghbors.

You have your long gun and pistol of choice at hand, and rounds are impacting your house endangering your family. What do you do?

Before anyone pipes up with "this isn't realistic", it damm sure was for at least 2 families.

What if the shooting doesn't stop after you call 911, and then one of your children or your wife is killed by random police gunfire, then what would you do?

i agree 100% with gunslinger. I have actually had this conversation with my nieghbors. I am in the middle of a large family owned property. All of them pretty much stated if it was an unjustified raid the cops would be surrounded in a very short time. If it's legit no problem. I have often wondered what i would do since i sit right in the middle of them all.

B: Identify an actual target before firing.

Exit through the back of your house, away from the gunfire, or get into a basement, or get something that you know can stop a round between you and the source.

Call 911 (like everyone said) and call your lawyer - because you're gonna be rich!


I'm not sure how what guns you have available are even remotely relevant.  Even thinking about firing back at armed cops who are obviously hitting your house by mistake (especially if there is a basement, barrier or a back door) is complete insanity and the height of irresponsible behavior towards your family.

Hmm - you have the option of taking cover, surviving with no harm and later suing for millions, and you have the option of committing suicide in a spectacular and pointless way.  Not a hard choice - when exactly would suicide be the correct answer?

He was, emphasis on [b]was[/b], David Koresh's best friend and closest confidant at the Branch Davidian home/church in Waco, Texas.  As you may have heard the ATF was seeking to "rescue" the various familys' children who lived there when a disgruntled ex-member of the congregation made spurious charges that possible abuse of the children was occurring.  I'm not sure whether the concern for children's well being falls under alcohol, tobacco, or firearms, but nevertheless, ATF, under orders from Attorney General Janet Reno assaulted the church and killed a number of people, and due to their own casualties taken in the assault, subsequently burned the entire structure down by inserting a form of CS gas into the structure that would have killed the children anyway, but is flammable when used indoors, and immediately caused a massive fire, due to the place being heated by Coleman stoves after the FBI turned the power off in January.  Mr. Martin was killed in the inferno.  As an aside, he was the black gentleman heard on the 911 tapes, pleading for the ATF to stop firing on "our home" during the initial assault when ATF agents fired indiscriminately into the home, knowing it was filled with women and children, and, gasp, men, who were not suspected of any crime.  He dialed 911.  We are told to do the same rather than defending ourselves.  



As far as this thread goes, it is impossible to speculate what I would do.  I do not have a basement in my current home.  I could not be safe anywhere in it.  As far as running out the back door as suggested by some--do you mean LEO's don't watch the back?  They always do on TV.  I am very protective of my beautiful wife and will not say I would not shoot back.  If it was necessary to save my wife, I would kill [b]anyone[/b] who chose to shoot at us.  If it was "just a little 'oops' on the part of LEO's, that is everyone's tough shit--especially ours.  I am not a criminal.  Shoot at me and I will shoot back if that seems to be the best way to get them to stop.  LEO's, please be careful so this type of outrage does not happen.  I see no excuse whatsoever for its occurrence.  Shooting indiscriminately at a house because a shot came from somewhere is silly, and no doubt criminal.  We are told to trust you, and just dial 911.  I know these incidents are extremely rare, in light of the number of LEO calls daily, but, damn, it only takes [b]one[/b] if you're the one.
