A new survey has revealed that a generation of young women are rejecting high-flying careers in favour of a life of ease and luxury. The so-called 'Easy Life Generation' have seen their mothers struggle with demanding jobs while trying to raise families and have no desire to follow in their footsteps.

New Woman magazine discovered they desire wealth and status without the demands of long hours in the workplace, and many hope to marry wealthy partners. Celebrities such as Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss and Big Brother's Chantelle Houghton are their role models. So are the Easy Lifers being naive and selfish, or just realistic? FEMAIL finds out . . . .

I have no intention of being the main breadwinner and hope I marry a man with a high income. Let him break his back if he so chooses....

My role model is Kate Moss — women like me see celebrities on the television and in magazines being famous for no reason at all, and they are dressed in lovely designer clothes and seem to be permanently on holiday. I do think that is a rather shallow life, but it's easy to become attracted to the idea....

I work hard at the moment to fund my lifestyle, but I'd far rather be supported by a man....

We rely on credit, and I think it is true that we want everything now. I don't think too hard about tomorrow — I just think that it will turn out OK....

The thing is, we see celebrities like Posh and Kate Moss having this amazing lifestyle and we want it too, although we don't have their money. That is where credit cards come in...
