I went to my local Pit of Despair, Debauchery, and Fat Welfare Broads today (also known as Wal*Mart) to get some socks.

While there I noticed something.

Socks come in resealable plastic bags.

Why?

Are there people that store their socks in the original resealable plastic bag to maintain their freshness or something?

Hypothetically, if one were to search for socks on eBay, would the seller loudly crow, "White no-sho athletic socks! NIW!"?

Why do the sock manufacturers proudly and boldly print that the socks are packaged in a resealable bag on the packaging, as if it's some major selling point to be able to purchase socks that come in a zipper-top resealable plastic bag?

another interesting thought..

think of the billions of squirrels that have lived and died. if, like me, you live somewhere where there are lots of trees, you prolly have squirrels.

now riddle me this, where'd all the billions of squirrel skeletons go? why is the world not covered in squirrels skeletons?

Bleah   Lovely.

I was thinking more like you can reuse the bag to save your empty brass, cleaning patches, extra hamsters or something...  You know, save the whales and all that crap!

They are in resealable bags so the rain won't get them wet while you are pushing your shopping cart around town.

I keep my extra hamsters in those net bags that onions come in. They get enough air that they stay in top physical condition for the hamster fights.

I keep the knives in the cardboard tube from paper towels though.

I don't get it.

The bag, with or without the ziplock feature, must be torn to be opened.  If the bag is ripped, it's pretty obvious you want to leave that bag alone.  Maybe it's for when you travel and buy a bag of new socks, you can take out all the clean ones, and stuff the dirty/stinky socks back in the bag and seal it until you can do some laundry.
