when you got into guns, rifles and shooting?  Just curious.  I am wondering if there are any out there that starting shooting in their late 30's like me.  I've been at it for 3 years now!  I feel I wasted some good years not  taking the hobby up sooner.  Just wanted to say it's great to be a part of AR15.com!

Rock on!

I've been shooting since I was 4 but didn't really start getting "into" guns until I was 14 or 15.

Dad started me shooting when I was 8, have been into guns a bit because of him till I was 17 or so. Then with my impending 18th birthday I went full bore into them and I haven't slowed down since.

For as long as I can remember. My dad and brothers both the same. All we ever talk about on the phone is who got what new gun, what's the hot new piece out, etc.

I got a Red Ryder when I was either 4 or 5.  I got into buying my own guns when I was 12, and yes, my dad actually bought them.  I paid for them by doing chores around the house.  It has been downhill for the checkbook ever since.

You might want to change the where in the title to were before the spelling nazis get to you! OH WAIT THEY ALREADY DID!

Seriously though, for my 12th birthday I had my uncle take me shooting. That was my youngest. I didn't shoot a gun again until I was 17 unfortunately.

Pretty much mirrors me. The first time I fired a center-fire was my brother's Remington XP-100 in .221 Fireball.

16...the first was a S&W Model 15 Combat Masterpiece. My Dad signed for it but I kept it in my room along with the ammo. By the time I was 18, I had seven handguns, two rifles and two shotguns.

I've been shooting and hunting since around 4.

I didn't get truly obsessed until 18 or 19.

Now its the only thing I spend money on besides the occasional meal, at other times I just eat ammo boxes

Three years old. The first gun I ever fired was my Dad's S&W model 29 .44 magnum. I don't know what he thought was funnier, me shooting the .44, or me yelling holy shit.

At 25, I bought my first AR-15 and really got in to them.  Almost a year later I have 3, a safe, another glock and a kel-tec and a few thousand rounds of ammo.  This hobby has consumed a good deal of my time and I like it!

Bought my first .22 rifle from a friend when I was 18.  I still have that one, back in my closet or somewhere.   Many $$ later, I have about a dozen firearms, and a ton of reloading stuff.   Don't shoot too often nowadays... I'm on a tight budget, and shooting is costly!

I liked guns in general since I was a little one, then got into airsoft around age 10 or 11. Stopped doing airsoft and got into real guns around age 14. I just turned 16 and have a grand total of 4 guns under my belt. Out of the 4, I picked 2, my godfather got the other ones through good deals and trades. I got a ruger mk2 bolt action from him, and a mauser. I picked out the AR15 and 92FS

I remember as a kid watching dad come home after a morning of pheasant hunting with a couple of birds. I was always amazed how something as small as a 12ga. shell could be used to kill the birds with something as small as the birdshot in it was. I was probably around 7 or 8 I guess. This would have been the mid-'60s.

When I turned 13, or was it 14?, I got a shotgun at Gambles. An FIE, made in Brazil, singleshot 12ga. I still have it. Dad found a rather used Remington Model 12 .22rimfire pump in the wall of the house while adding insulation in the mid-70s. We shot it some. I still have it, too.

When I graduated high school in '78 I used all that gift money you get to buy a pair of 10x50 binoculars and a Ruger 10/22. I still have both. I bought my first AR15 in the summer of 79. I no longer have it.

My older cousin handed me a Colt Single Action Army when I was 6. That was all it took. I can remember not being able to cock the hammer. Wish I had that gun now.

Been a gun nut all my life.  Got interested in them watching cowboy movies and Combat on TV when I was a youngster.

My parents were anti but my Grandmother in Wyoming took me out in the desert to shoot her guns when I was 11.  She also taught me the importance of gun rights and the second amendment.

Did some .22 target shooting at summer camp in Boy Scouts about age 12.

Got into a junior .22 NRA program at Rock Island Arsenal when I was 14.  Did the training, which was awesome and got the first badge (Marksman??) before I had to quit.

Bought my first rifle at age 19 in Arizona.  It was a sporterized Mk 4 enfield.  I later sold it.   My first pistol purchase was a Colt .45 Government model series 70 which I still own.

Bought my oldest son his first .22 (Ruger 10/22) when he was 14.  I later added a Mossberg 500 12-guage to his collection.  He is now 21 and in the Army and is also a gun nut.  Last time he was home he was fondling my two EBRs and telling me about his M4.  He got bored and ordered the parts to pimp out his mossberg into a home defense weapon (pistol grips and 18" barrel).

Since the 6th grade.  My first gun I shot was a 12 gage remington pump, a 22 rifle, and a mini-14.  A couple of months later my brother took me to shoot his S&W 44 and 357.  I was glad that the 12 ga was my first gun to shoot.  I was never afraid of bid calibres, and that is probably why.

I always looking at guns since I very young but never got to shoot one till I was about 10 or so. When I was growing up my parents weren't very firearm happy so I knew my father wouldn't take me shooting. The most I could do was shoot my bow, which my grandfather taught me how to do. When I turned 18 I bought my first shotgun, a rem. 870 express. I love that shotgun, now I'm more into my semi-auto's and savage bolt guns.

I went to the police rifle range when I was about 12 years old.  We learned to shoot bolt action, single shot .22LR rifles with iron sights.

I didn't shoot again until I was about 26 years old.

Now I'm hooked.

Then I lost them all in a tragic ocean kayak accident.

Shot my first gun in USAF Basic.  Just a tick over 18.  Same with my brother, as he first fired a gun in Army Boot and AIT.

By any measure, he and I are certified gun nuts.  Making up for lost time.

I first got into guns when I was about 12 or so. I got a couple pellet/bb guns as gifts for birthdays, Christmas etc. Some freinds would come over and we'd shoot cans, targets, old toys and such in the back yard. It was a blast!

But, for a while, as I got a little older, partying was more on the menu. But eventually that wore off.

I didn't actually shoot a "real" gun till I was in my mid 20's and of course I had to have one. Then another.....and another.....and another....
