when you got into guns, rifles and shooting? Just curious. I am wondering if there are any out there that starting shooting in their late 30's like me. I've been at it for 3 years now! I feel I wasted some good years not taking the hobby up sooner. Just wanted to say it's great to be a part of AR15.com! Rock on!

You might want to change the where in the title to were before the spelling nazis get to you! OH WAIT THEY ALREADY DID! Seriously though, for my 12th birthday I had my uncle take me shooting. That was my youngest. I didn't shoot a gun again until I was 17 unfortunately. |
| Bought my first .22 rifle from a friend when I was 18. I still have that one, back in my closet or somewhere. Many $$ later, I have about a dozen firearms, and a ton of reloading stuff. Don't shoot too often nowadays... I'm on a tight budget, and shooting is costly! |
| I liked guns in general since I was a little one, then got into airsoft around age 10 or 11. Stopped doing airsoft and got into real guns around age 14. I just turned 16 and have a grand total of 4 guns under my belt. Out of the 4, I picked 2, my godfather got the other ones through good deals and trades. I got a ruger mk2 bolt action from him, and a mauser. I picked out the AR15 and 92FS |

I remember as a kid watching dad come home after a morning of pheasant hunting with a couple of birds. I was always amazed how something as small as a 12ga. shell could be used to kill the birds with something as small as the birdshot in it was. I was probably around 7 or 8 I guess. This would have been the mid-'60s. When I turned 13, or was it 14?, I got a shotgun at Gambles. An FIE, made in Brazil, singleshot 12ga. I still have it. Dad found a rather used Remington Model 12 .22rimfire pump in the wall of the house while adding insulation in the mid-70s. We shot it some. I still have it, too. When I graduated high school in '78 I used all that gift money you get to buy a pair of 10x50 binoculars and a Ruger 10/22. I still have both. |

Been a gun nut all my life. Got interested in them watching cowboy movies and Combat on TV when I was a youngster. My parents were anti but my Grandmother in Wyoming took me out in the desert to shoot her guns when I was 11. She also taught me the importance of gun rights and the second amendment. Did some .22 target shooting at summer camp in Boy Scouts about age 12. Got into a junior .22 NRA program at Rock Island Arsenal when I was 14. Did the training, which was awesome and got the first badge (Marksman??) before I had to quit. Bought my first rifle at age 19 in Arizona. It was a sporterized Mk 4 enfield. I later sold it. My first pistol purchase was a Colt .45 Government model series 70 which I still own. Bought my oldest son his first .22 (Ruger 10/22) when he was 14. I later added a Mossberg 500 12-guage to his collection. He is now 21 and in the Army and is also a gun nut. Last time he was home he was fondling my two EBRs and telling me about his M4. He got bored and ordered the parts to pimp out his mossberg into a home defense weapon (pistol grips and 18" barrel). |
| Since the 6th grade. My first gun I shot was a 12 gage remington pump, a 22 rifle, and a mini-14. A couple of months later my brother took me to shoot his S&W 44 and 357. I was glad that the 12 ga was my first gun to shoot. I was never afraid of bid calibres, and that is probably why. |

I always looking at guns since I very young but never got to shoot one till I was about 10 or so. When I was growing up my parents weren't very firearm happy so I knew my father wouldn't take me shooting. The most I could do was shoot my bow, which my grandfather taught me how to do. When I turned 18 I bought my first shotgun, a rem. 870 express. I love that shotgun, now I'm more into my semi-auto's and savage bolt guns. From, Joe.... |

I wasn't really into guns until one night when I was 20, one of my buddies and I were up all night playing videao games and at about 6:30, he was like, "Hey, lets go shooting!" I am 24 now and thanks to him, I am really into guns and thatks to you freaks I have a full fledged case of BRD |

I first got into guns when I was about 12 or so. I got a couple pellet/bb guns as gifts for birthdays, Christmas etc. Some freinds would come over and we'd shoot cans, targets, old toys and such in the back yard. It was a blast! But, for a while, as I got a little older, partying was more on the menu. But eventually that wore off. I didn't actually shoot a "real" gun till I was in my mid 20's and of course I had to have one. Then another.....and another.....and another.... |
