How do I prevent program icons from appearing in my task bar. I dont use these programs much, and dont like the icons being there. Thanks Travis |

Oh, the task manager.. (far right on bottom) Some of them have the option to turn it off... Right click on the icon and should have an option for "options" or "preferences" or something. In there it may have something as simple as a check box to uncheck to turn that part off.. What programs? |
|
Sounds like the programs you install are configured to automaticly start everytime your computer boots. Some programs dont give an option during installation. Click Start, run, type msconfig and click ok Click on the startup tab and look to see if you can find the program in there. |
Or that... |

I recommend RegCleaner: www.worldstart.com/weekly-download/archives/reg-cleaner4.3.htm You can choose which programs to start on bootup, remove software, remove software from the uninstall menu and some other useful tools (plus its free). |
Why install another prgram when you have what you need already installed? (msconfig and the program itself he is trying ti hide) |
|
True. RegCleaner is just one of the few freewares I always install with any Windows desktop as the features it has is worth it to me (others being process explorer, active ports, clamwin, spybot s&d). It's not a large program, and doesn't take up much in terms of resources and you can always remove it if it's not something you're going to use often. |
Where are the icons exactly? ...The (Windows) systray is the lower-right-hand corner (normally), where the clock is. Stuff that starts automatically appears in there. ...The quick-launch bar usually appears on the bottom of the screen to the left, next to the start button. To get rid of those icons you can just right-click and delete them. They can start on either end apparently: I have MS speech tools installed (for voice recognition progams) and the (autmoatic) quicklaunch bar for that appears on the lower-right, next to the systray. ...The task bar is the big area in-between the above two, where programs that you start yourself appear. ~ |
A tad late arnt ya? |
Thats where they are, They are the icons for Adobe photoshop,(I havent ever used that) and Quicktime movie,( not even sure where that came from? I-pod? ) Thanks Travis |
