www.nbc4.tv/news/9516878/detail.html GROVE CITY, Ohio -- A kitten with two faces was born in Ohio on Wednesday. The kitten has two mouths that meow in unison, two noses and four eyes. Charles Roberts, the boy who owns the cat, said he hasn't decided on a name for the kitten yet. He said he wants to name it Tiger. Two other kittens were born in the same litter, but only one was born with two faces. Shane Bateman, with the Ohio State University Veterinary Hospital, said a two-faced kitten is extremely rare, and there is no real explanation for it. The owner said the kitten has begun nursing.

| It most likely won't live long. This sort of thing is not unheard of. In fact, there are a number of disfiguring genetic aberrations that strike cats more than others. You may remember Cy, the cyclops kitten. It died quickly. Some do not form a forebrain, some's skulls do not fully form and they end up with exposed brain... some are lucky and are merely born deaf or with one eye too small (one of our cats had such a problem. He had a surgical reduction of his eye socket. He's perfectly healthy and functional, but he is a little... odd... compared to his brother and sister. It could just be personality). |
I'm no veterinarian, or genealogy expert but I'd say the kittens left face looks dominant. More fully formed and thats the mouth that closes all the way. 2 weeks....thats my guess on how long it lives. BUT it could live to be one very old, very weird cat. |
Here is the other cat... www.newsnet5.com/family/4268157/detail.html I guess this happens more then I realized... www.messybeast.com/freak-face.htm |
