Lap Banding. Ok, I am willing to admit it. I'm fat. I didn’t used to be, but I am now. In high school, I was 6'2" and 195 (around 6% BF). I was lean and mean. Now, I am Low Speed, High Drag. 6"2" and (gulp) 365. I have been going to the gym 3 times a week and doing cardio for close to 3 months. I lost a total of 11 pounds... This is after being in the gym for over a year and losing about 27 pounds, but having it all come back. I really don’t want to do anything too invasive (bypass, stapling, etc.) and since they do the Lap Band with an incision less than .5 in it seems a much better way to go. Also, since the weight loss is over a period of time, generally cosmetic surgery is not required. The cost would be covered by my insurance 100%. I want to be a more active person and FATHER. Anyone have experiences, good or bad, with Lap Banding? |

My brother actually went to one of the seminars and he said he's gonna have it done. The way he descibed it to me is that you actually have to have like an IV port on your side where you have to have an injection every 3 months or something. It's supposed to keep the band hydrated and prevents it from drying out/cracking. I don't know, just doesn't sound like my cup of tea. But being overweight sucks too. I have put on 60 lbs. after losing 115 lb, and it sucks. It was a lot nicer when I was at 244 |
I'd be a little intimidated if you were the dude giving me an enema Agh I can joke. I'm "full-figured" as well.ETA- Don't let your self esteem get down either. Your no less of a man because your large. That's what's wrong with society today. it's all about glamour. I commend you for wanting to lose weight to be more active in your childrens lives, and all about, I want to look buff for the beach. Piss on that. When I went on my strict diet, I did it after I got married. I decided hey, with the heart problems that run in our family, I want to be around for my wife, and watch my kids(when we have some) grow up. Stay strong and keep the right mindset. If you think you will fail, then you will. You ALWAYS have to think positive. Good luck! |

up the cardio to 6x a week. Figure out your caloric intake. You'll loose the weight. You don't get that big from not eating enough. You have to eat healtier, more protien. I used to be fat as a kid. I thank all the people that made fun of me, because they instilled fear into me. I'm affraid to be fat again, and never will be. Surgery will not change eating habits, and I wouldn't go under the knife unless it was life or death. |
My knees cant take 6x a week |
Is it because you're so overweight, or someother mitigating factor? More than likely, your weight problem is exagerating the problem. If it hurts that much, take up swimming. Walking, cycling, anything. Weight problems suck, but it's not going to be a surgical preceedure that is going to make you skinny. It's going to take hard work. For me, every hour of every day I'm thinking diet, and what I want to achieve. Don't get so emotionally attached to food, and consume what your body needs, not wants. |
