We have tile floors in both our bathrooms. It is the original tile from the 50's. Thankfully it is not some outrageous color. It is sound and we want to keep it. The grout has turned dark. Is there something I can put on it to restore the grout to its original color?

Hydroment and Aquamix manufacture grout stains you can apply with a foam brush.  You can do either that or rake and regrout.

Ask for help from the tile guys and somebody named Tileguy responds.

If this tile is from the 50's you might want to regrout. Royal pain in the ass but the results will be worth it.

I have worked with the Aquamix brand stuff. Looks good for a little while, but tends to turn crappy again.   Try re-grouting it.  Just be careful not to chip any tile when you dig out the old stuff....   Then it'll be good for a while....

I appreciate the info. Looks like regrouting is the way to go. Why is the right way always the hard way?
