Actually I did have vodka in the house, but it wasn't photogenic vodka (read cheap vodka) I was in the mood for a bloody mary one night, my wife says "Buy the cheap shit, its all the same." So I ended up buying it and runing some good tomato juice with it. I haven't thrown it away or found a good use for it. Maybe I can use it one day to light something on fire with. |
now thats a dinner pic |
Mine's bigger. j/k Nice pic there, very nice Kimber, |
You can salvage it with activated charcoal. The only real difference between cheap vodka and good vodka is how many times it's filtered through activated charcoal. Filter it enough, and Val-U-Rite generic vodka becomes as smooth as Grey Goose. |
Didnt they disprove this on myth busters? |
Um, it's getting smother because the alcohol content is less thanks to the charcoal. |
IIRC charcoal doesn't absorb alcohol, just all the other crap in the cheap vodka. |
Yes. You can improve cheap vodka by repeatedly filtering it, but it's not going to make it as good as the quality stuff. |
Yeah, all this is anecdotal. For anything quality, you have to start with quality materials or ingredients. That's true of everything. |
My wife thinks I'm nuts. I told her it was too pretty not to share.
Damn, you kidding, these were like 12.99/lb for the big ones, 9.99 for the regular ones. Those 5 legs were ~3.5 lbs. I WISH i could get them that cheap. |
My dog was the only witness to that photo, but was keeping an eye on the table thinking he was gonna get some. I usually only get the king crab when they have the "colossal" size in stock at the local store for somewhere around $10.99/lb. |

Buy it all year long here for $7-9 a pound at the grocery store and even cheaper if you look around. Curious as to why the specification that it is Russian King Crab. My crab fishing education consists of watching Deadliest Catch. Is the Russian side of the Bering reputedly "cleaner" or their crab considered more desirable? Just a supply and demand thing? I'll not rag CajunMojo since he ".......Sorta" 'ed his subject. npd233's pic is definitely a nice working template. Damn I love dinner pics. |
No Sir not kidding at all, I watch the ads for the stores in the Metro area and since I like to cook it provides an insight on good deals. Last week it was Rib eye steaks at 2 pounds each for 3.99 a pound. |
There isn't any difference. Possibly the regulations followed while cathcing them. Just that they had "Product of Russia" on them, so I sorta threw together a Russian dinner pic. |
