Over the years several of my friends have had wierd pets. Some cool and some not. Cougar- they sucked. Cool to look at but they were mean as hell. Even to my buddy who they knew and he fed them. Racoon- he was ok but they are really kind of stupid and only care about food. Some parrot type bird from the Solomon Is.- He was cool. He liked to play and was smart as hell. He had about an 80 word vocab and knew the right words to use at what time. If he walked into a room and you didn't know he was there he would say "Hello" to let you know so he wouldn't get stepped on. Monkey- He was the coolest. It really was like having a little brother. Strong as hell and smarter than me. He was potty trained and even flushed the toilet. He did throw poo a few times when mad. The little fucker hit me in the forehead with some when I wouldn't give him my peanut butter sandwich. ![]() He really was cool but a handful. The little guy was more human than some humans I know. I think I will stick with my cat.

HMMMMMM was the chick kinky by chance? I want to hear more about the sugar gliders they sound cool as all hell.. |
Sadly no. The monkey was more entertaining then she was. |
| I have always dreamed of an exotic cat as a pet. My favorites would be a cougar, bobcat, lynx, ocelot, etc. That thread called "MMMMMM big pussssyyy" a few pages back got me thinking of a cat like that (fishing cat i beleive it was called). Is it possible to actually domesticate an exotic cat, or does it take generations of cats to get them to behave? I have a high fenced 1200 acre ranch that is quites suitable for a cougar or bobcat, but I bet it would climb the fence so fast It would be a waste of money. And even if it decided to stay on the ranch, its heavy brush country and I wouldnt see him. I want a hunting kind of cat (not a regular cat in the pet store) after my dog in like 7 years. |

This is Ricochet...not too exotic...but he is a pet http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e311/dawgtraxx/guns/MVC-272S.jpg |
Cool miniature. Hard to find one with a dark face and nose! |
From what I understand wild cats NEVER make good pets. I would love to have one too but they just suck. The cougar enclosure had 10' high fence AND a roof. They really did suck. They would hiss at you just like a housecat. |
my grandfather got a few of them given to him and they were very agressive. if i remember correctly i think it was a few cambodians that came and slaughtered it right there at his house and took it away. |

lol WdpIan, i though you actually meant BENGAL, as in Bengal Tiger. I saw some pics of the serval, and looks cool. I read a small bit about them, and it seems like they aren't that hard to care for. Where would you get one? BTW, educate me on the cat you have, looks like a normal cat. edit, i googled the Savannah, and they look perfect, ima read up. |
Savannahs dont require any paperwork... But they are really expensive www.a1savannahs.com/servals.htm |
How fast do they move? |
I just took these pics. HK P7m8 thrown in for scale. He's between 6 and 7 feet. Weighed in at 58lbs 3months ago. When food is involved.....VERY fast. These guys have a great temperment. ![]() ![]() |
Holy Shit. Where do you keep that thing! |
Are they literally friendly... can you ... like... pet them? Do they play? I know nothing about lizards of any size. - BG |
Tengo un lagarto gigante en mis pantalones

Not that hard to take care of, feed, water, clean litter box daily, I usually let them run around for a couple hours a day, There usually ok with cats they'll chase each other around, get along ok with one of my dogs although one of them nips at her, I keep them away from my other dog as he's not that good with other animals, Also if you have any rodents or birds for pets keep them out of reach, ferrets do have a high prey drive for smaller animals. They do like to get into things they shouldn't, I have to move my bed on a weekly basis to recover stolen items. |
QUE? |
so how would they compare to say, an exceptionally frisky cat? |
Servals would be great if you wanted to do some old-school birding. You ever see those things hunt? |
15'x8'x5' cage with 300 gal pond. I don't think friendly would be the word. This type of Monitor is know for being docile. I have no fear of him. And I handle him every day. I've taken hits in the past. All have been hand feeding related. When he realized he had me instead of his meal, he'ld let go. He's far to big to play that game now. He'll hang out with me untill he's had enough. You can pet and play with him and the female for that matter. And no. I don't put them together. The size differance is to great. By bulk they are the second largest lizards in the world. And the largest you can legally own. DH2. I have no idea what your saying. BTW. Beardies rock! And much easier on ,well everything. |

When I saw the lizard pics, I noticed the rubber hammer in the background - is this a training tool? (joking) I raised a pair of Kit Foxes that I recovered from an inadvertenly excavated den about 35 years ago. They were good pets, but even better escape artists. They prefered the taste of the local housecats, and this eventually became their demise. The got out to hunt, and were busy trying to open a have-a-heart trap with a cat inside... when animal control found them. Since they were raised by people (their eyes were not open when I found them) they ran straight to the guy. Expecting him to open the "treat" for them (it was meant to CATCH them). They had collars & nametags, so the animal control guy was at my doorstep in minutes. He was not amused. Back then, people were more understanding and my two troublemakers wound up in the local zoo after I explaind their rescue. I knew a man that had a pair of Caracals. The male was about 40 pounds, the female about 35. I actually met this carachter looking for a home for the foxes. He had all of the permits for the Caracals, but no room for the foxes. They were interesting cats, and played well with people - a tennis ball was a great toy. Caracals are know for catching low flying birds, so "catch" was played by throwing the tennis ball near the cats - as hard as you liked. Probably on some damn "list" now, and no longer legal to keep - the irony is that he was required to sterlize his pair for the permit. Good luck on your quest for something unique. |
Nice pics! We had a Savannah Monitor that was "grabby" |
