Any chance some type of "special" weapon was used on Zarqawi? They must have known that his hide out would be full of goodies, and they did not want to destroy that. Plus Z was still alive and in one piece. So what kind of bomb explodes without fire? Kinda like a giant type flash bang, but no flash. |

Probably just a plain jane MK82 body (GBU guidance package of course) with 192 lbs of Tritonal HE filler. Thermobaric warheads have their own place, they are better for penetrater bombs that take out bunkers and caves. A lot of variables in why he wasn't in pieces or burned, depends on where he was in the building in relation to the bombs. Looks like he took "Overpressure damage judging by the blood coming out of his nose, probably out of his ears too but can't tell from the pics I have seen. It's too bad they didn't hit the fucking place with a 2000 lb MK84 with its 945 lbs of Tritonal HE filler. Bigger is always better.
