We've never had a Heterosexual Week in Houston. Why is it so important for these people to have their own week? I think this is one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. HH |

I have nothing against people that have different beliefs than I do. But if it bothers me, I just ignore it. That being said, there was a huge uproar not too long ago in one of Chicago's northern suburbs. The Gay Games are coming to Chicago this summer, and the organizers wanted the rowing competition to be held in this suburb. Not a lot of residents were pleased about it. I can't recall what happened in the end. But then again, Texas and Massachusetts are like two completely diffrent worlds, IMO. |
Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure it was..... |
Probably. It's kind of like the United Negro College Fund. If we had a United Caucasian College Fund it'd be racist. Yet I am sure there are PLENTY of white kids in need of such a fund. Not trying to be an ass here (and I resent that I even have to type that disclaimer) but it's true. How in the world are we supposed to be indicriminate of gender/race/religion/sexual orientation if people keep coming up with ways to be divided by such things? |
Playmore, I'll be north of Boston this weekend and MTW next week. Any other ARF.commers in the area? I'll buy the first round. |

A good friend of mine and I took our families with small children to Boston 2 or 3 years back for a weekend, we had intended to see the USS Constitution, do Revolutionary War stuff, etc. We had to avoid the city center entirely because of thousands of "alternative" lifestyle folks attending some sort of gay pride event. Whatever that park is in the center of Boston was totally overrun. Flame on, but I refuse to immerse my children in that. Fuck that. ETA If there were a hetero event where the multitude of attendees were hell bent or exploring/celebrating their sexuality I would avoid that as well when with children, just to be clear. |

Well, people have parades to celebrate civil acceptance - otherwise the processions of humanity on public streets is called "a protest" or "a march". But when the point trying to get across is "we're civilly accepted and honored" then you have a parade. So World Series teams get parades. Victorious troops and generals GOT parades. Gays have a fairly high percentage of Media and Marketting professionals among their ranks, so they've used what they're good at to maximum advantage - and very astutely I might add. Their goal was to 'mainstream' their lifestyle to such a degree that it would be 'normal' - normal defined as whatever 50% of any given population decides it to be. To do this you need lots of targetting media campaigns. First get sympathetic parts in movies, sit-coms, etc. (so in the 80's and 90's we got the stereotypical smart, geeky, funny gay side-kicks). Then get puff pieces in print and news media about gays solely as victims, never criminals or aggressors - and this for HIV or physical assault. HIV was just something they got without any causality. Very mysterious. Definately had NOTHING AT ALL to do with "lifestyle". Once this was established firmly in people's mind, they needed to break down the 'icky' barrier by getting out in public, thus the parades. But even there the helpful Media made sure that only closely cropped and carefully staged photos or video was released - nothing to upset the carefully crafted image that Gays are only "smart, geeky, funny professionals who are always unfortunate victims of nature or human cruelty" and never, say, like the rest of us neanderthals. They've done a masterful job - and continue to do so - much more savvily than anything their opponents are doing. But it is important to realize what is propaganda and what is the real deal. The GLBT sub-culture is full of some scary insane stuff. Most recently a tendency to purposely engage in 'lifestyle activities' that are, well, not conducive to a long life span. |
My point is that when every week is basically hetero week, what would be the point of a hetero parade |

Boston is discriminating against all the other previsions… I mean Alternative Lifestyles out there. Shouldn’t there be a “Furry Pride Week” where people dressed in crotchless college mascot uniforms hump each other in the streets. Then we need a pride week for the people who get off on scat and urine. There should be a “Sadomasochism, Bondage, Torture, Humiliation Week,” “Group Sex Week,” “Bestiality Week,” “Pedophilia Week,” “Clown Fetish Week,” “Stormtrooper Fetish Week (Ain’t making that one up either.),” “Real Doll Week,” “Naked Woman Fetish Week (My favorite week), “Voyeurism/Exhabitionism Week,” “Foot Fetish Week”… Dang, we’re gonna need more weeks. Somewhere in there it would be nice if we had A “Boring Heterosexual Week” for the kind of people that are sexually satisfied by a person of the opposite sex that they are in love with and a private room with dim lights. Apparently people like this are a dying breed. |

But the key is that parades are for civil praise/ honorable recognition of a group or person... so it only makes sense that any moral or ethnic minority would be praised to the skies while the majority ethnicity/morality gets either nothing or get's dumped on as not worthy of praise/civil honor. |
I think you're right. My guess is that the people who participate in these parades get off on being the center of attention as much as they do with members of the same sex. I don't worry about it too much, though. I figure one of these days some scientist will find out exact what genetic, chemical, hormonal, or other factor is involved in the development of exclusive homosexuality (as opposed to bisexuality, which can be cultural, like the ancient Greeks). Then we'll be able to solve the issue. Or else the scientist who makes the discovery will use it to turn everyone gay ![]() in which case it won't matter either

No because you are not excluded from their events. You would be more than welcome as I understand it. Assuming you are heterosexual. Either way you're okay I guess!

I just checked and nope... no Pink Pistols. However, the "Boston Police Mounted Unit" will be in attendence. ![]() www.bostonpride.org/parade.php#participants |
