I have an older HP desk top and the HD is a 9 gig is it possible to add a 2nd internal HD or would i be better off getting an external HD? I want to get a new computer but it might be awhile before i can.

If your computer is that old then an external HD will probably be slow because your computer likely has USB 1 ports. An extra internal HD would probably be preferable.

Thanks, I really didn't know if 2 hard drives could fit inside of the computer or not. How can you tell the difference between USB1 and USB2 ports?

you'd be better off getting another internal EIDE harddrive (you probably cannot use SATA)
I second the staying away from external hardrives, without USB2, transfer rates will be too slow.

ETA, the way to tell if you have usb2 would be in the computer properties, but if your computer has only a 9 gig harddive, it's really doubtful that you have usb2, it's only been around for about 3 years.

a computer that old has 1.0 usb ports and probably will not see above a 40gb drive
