| Could some of you guys who have experience with Limewire give me your opinions of it. I was told by a friend that it is about the best thing out there for downloading music right now. I have been using Ares, and have been pretty happy with it, but I was told that Limewire is much better in the sense that you don't have to wait as long to download. Also, is Limewire free, or do you have to pay? Thanks in advance. |
limewire is free (unless you want to upgrade), fairly quick, has a large selection, plus no mandatory spyware![]() bearshare is teh suxzor...painfully slow, not enough users to get fast downloads, and it requires the downloading of spyware for use. of course, I would never share files. Sharing files is bad. I only know the above because my brother's girlfriend's sister's boyfriend told me. |
Reading comprehension is key. The only references to "Free" in this thread is regarding Limewire Pro, a program licensed under the GPL, as an open source program, and thus is required to be available for free in any form of the program (normal or "pro") Basically it's "we'll give it away to anyone, but we'll take money from the idiots who don't want to find out how to do it." |
Are you serious?I think we all know what's being talked about in this thread (and the thread originator specifically mentioned downloading music). I understand that there are file-sharing gnutella client software versions out there that idiots pay for - I am talking about the PURPOSE of the software. I believe the iTunes software is ALSO "free" to download, and MUCH easier and FASTER than Limewire to use. Do you really think the thread originator is interested in iTunes? I don't - so the issue is not whether or not the software is free or not, but whether no not the files shared with it are free. Give me a break. Sure some people in this thread may have been talking about whether the Limewire client itself is free to download - but the really important "free" part here is not the cost of the client, is it? |
| As was already mentioned, Limewire is free and open source, yet somehow they manage to have a "pay for" Pro version. You can either find a 3rd party build of Limewire Pro, or just use Frostwire. Frostwire is a fork of Limewire, and is essentially a re-badged Limewire Pro that avoids the whole free/pro model and nag screens and whatnot. Much easier and the same result. |

Thats how I got mine
