First off, I'm not a resident of Florida.  I'm currently a resident of Indiana.  However I will soon be moving to New Mexico.  I move often with my job.  I have an Indiana CWP already.

I was at packing.org and I found that the Florida CWP is accepted in more states than any other.  Also you don't have to be a resident to apply.

However...Do I have to be a Florida Resident for it to be accepted in the other states?  Example:  Indiana Resident with Florida CWP in the state of New Mexico?  Would I be good to go?

Secondly...to obtain the Florida CWP you must show proof of firearm training of some sort.  I have a Hunter's Education Course certificate that I completed which is acceptable to them.  However...I did this back in 1997.  Will this still be good to go?  Or do I need a more recent document?

Third question for all the Florida locals.  How long did it take from start to finish to receive your CWP in the mail?  It says around 90 days...is this the case?

Thanks for the answers guys/gals!

I sent a copy of my 1989 hunter education card, they accepted it.

I did the electronic fingerprints at the local sheriffs department, took 12 days to get it back. My dad did the ink prints and it took about 45 days if I remember right.

Thanks for the answers guys/gals!

Only Michigan and New Hampshire require resident permits.  The rest (that accept Florida permits currently) will accept a non resident Florida permit.

FWIW: Its a "license" not a permit

Unless something has changed, you need more recent

Mine took 89 days (in 1995), I've seen people get them in a few weeks, the finger printing is the hold up
