I am trying to figure out what is wrong with my girlfriends car. Its a 2004 Lexus SUV. Here's the problem: If you listen to the radio with the engine off and the key in the "ON" position the battery will die after 20 minutes or so. I mean dead. No horn. No Starter. After a quick boost with jumper cables the car is fine. Taking these steps over and over produce the same results. Could there be a short in the system somewhere? Note: She had a "custom" shop install some TV's when the car was new but later had the same shop remove them because they sucked. Note: I listen to the radio in my car all the time like this and never have a problem. |

The radio doesn't work in with the key in the ACC position? If it doesn't, then you need to run the radio power wire to a terminal in the fuse box labeled ACC not POWER/12V. If you are running the radio with the key in the ON postion and the radio does work in the ACC position then .The CLOCK wire goes to POWER/12V. "They" may have switched the CLOCK wire with the radio POWER wire. |
I haven't checked if it works in ACC position. Why would the "ON" position drain the battery in 20 minutes? That seems unreasonable. |
Everything is back to the factory configuration. I am still wondering why I can run the radio in my Honda with no problem. |
