Here are a few facts (that are already public knowledge) that are from one of the key guys in the investigation.  NOT a FED.

He had been making bombs since he was six.  He had a facination with it.
He had mental problems.
He had just been kicked out of the Triangle Frat and was very pissed off.
He did NOT try to get into the game.
He had NO relations with the mosque or muslims nor any connection to islam.  His roommate was assigned by the Univ and had just moved in.

And for the next week pieces of him would fall out of the trees everytime the wind blew.

I REALLY, REALLY thought this was muslim related, at least on his part, but it wasn't.

Interesting....I admit I had him pegged for an ROP sympathizer.

Sad.... I've walked my kids past that bench for carnivals on the south oval..

Religion of Peace, a sort of dig on Islam.

"Rength of Pull" - Related to Chinese Firearms
or possibly "Religion of Peace (Islam)...

About two days after 9/11 Bush was giving some speech and talked about the Religon of Peace using those exact words.

Obviously it is ludicrous on its face.

Not one of Bush's best moments.

Yeah Joel was just a guy with some serious problems. Not a ROPer/sympathizer. The guy obviously knew a lot about explosives/ordnance. Last year he gave a presentation in one of my engineering classes where he designed a new AP round. He was hardcore about that stuff.  I guess he just got pushed over the edge and decided to use his expertise against himself.

Sad deal...

Thanks for the update.  My tinfoil will be recalibrated accordingly

Next thing you know,  the SUV guy will turn out to be just a careless driver.

His roommate was in one of my business classes.  I had to interview him, and he is from Pakistan.  I definitely thought the kid who blew himself up was an ROP synpathizer with his long beard and Pakistani roommate and all.

So many *needed* him to be some kind of muslim extremist/sympathizer/terrorist/sleeper cell/whatever.

You'll never get the tinfoil weenies to admit that they might have been wrong.

I think their motto is, "I'll see it when I believe it."

No link,  just a presentation done by the lead local LEO.
