MAN! I know I am new here , but why do you guys post stuff you KNOW is gonna get locked??? I have seen 1/2 dozen or so already, IT AINT EVEN NOON YET! |

You can say what you will, you don't have to candy-coat. Just ensure that you are in compliance with the CoC. Stay away, primarily, from personal attacks, advocating criminal behavior (don't say "kill 'em all") and avoid racial slurs like the devil. Simply re-word your message and that's not the same at all as candy-coating. |

The "unmoderation" bear pit got shut down and now has different rules, so I guess the short answer is "No."  I've never really underestood this either. Even if you absolutely hate (fill in the blank thing that you can't say bad things about because of the COC) I don't get why some people get so obsessed with it. I don't think a single (fill in hated racial, religous or ethnic group) ever got struck dead by a nasty post on a gunboard. |
One of your threads contained a shortened form of a word that is commonly viewed as a racial slur in the subject line. You did violate the CoC rule on derogatory comments by doing that. That's what got your thread locked, and trying to fight it out with mods/staff is not a good approach. |

Then say it was an act committed by an alien -or even an illegal alien- and you'll be ok. It is when you start using derogatory/racial/ethnic,blah,blah,terms that you need to question if you will reach your first aniversary here.

A little confused there, too. That term is commonly used by Mexicans to refer to Americans and it is somewhat similar to "Carpetbagger", IIRC. To the best of my knowledge, "Carpetbagger" isn't a racial slur. |
Simple--"gringo" is a derogatory term for non-Hispanic whites, used by those of Hispanic descent. I for one am a little tired of the "you can say anything you want about whites around here" griping, so . . . Besides, there are at least a dozen existing threads where the point could have been made (sans the derogatory term). |

I thought it had more to do with nationality than race. Yes, I agree that the term is not necessary to use in making a point. Thank you for the explanation.

Honestly, I have no problem being called the G-word, or the H-word, or the W-word, or the D-word, or the M-word, or any other derogatory word that I may have in my family background. I am comfortable with my identity, or identities as the case may be. Funny story related to me by a friend of mine: "So I was walking through the parking lot at Wal-Mart. I hear this loud familiar voice say "HEY! WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'RE GOING H****!" I turned around to see my buddy Mike, who's black. I shot back with "STFU N*****!" At that point everyone in the parking lot stopped dead in their tracks. Some hid behind cars figuring bullets were about to start flying. I walked up to himi and gave him a big hug 'cause I hadn't seen him in a while. "hey how's it going!? That was the funniest shit I've ever seen!"" Maybe if people started seeing slurs for the stupid shit that they are, we might be able to get along a lot better... *** Edited for the sake of sensibility**** (I know that last line contains a bunch of "naughty" words, I'm just trying to make a point...) |

If anyone besides mods and staff actually read the Conduct Code, it all kind of makes sense--
It is simply not possible to offend me by calling me ANY name. That said, there is no reason to cast generalized slurs about in order to make a point. Anyone who simply lacks the vocabulary or intellect to make their point without derogatory slurs is just not someone we need to have here. Those who were familiar with the old "Full-Auto.com" and (to a slightly lesser extent) "Pre-Ban.com" will see my point.
