Well, I just got back from the gun show. Not a bad ltitle trip, though I did come home empty-handed .

Here's my observations of guns and what not (this show was in Upstate NY by the way, so an AWB of sorts is still in effect):

I had forgotten what it was like to be "behind enemy lines" of the AWB so to speak.

Pre-Ban magazines everywhere at nice high prices compared to what others can get out of state. $1,200+ used Pre-Ban ARs that would be lucky to fetch $700 on the open market.

$1,000+ home-built mixed bag Garands

Not much jerky vendors, but they did have the magnetic healing bracelet vendor there.

No Constitution Party guy outside the show passing out pamphlets .

Plenty of random junk, reproduction Nazi garb, knives galore.

One guy had a decent looking optics table. Red dots ranging from genuine Trijicon ACOGs for $800+ and the Chinese knock-offs for about $80 I think. Same for the Aimpoints.

Ammo prices looked decent. $129/1000 for Wolf 223. $149/1000 for Wolf 7.62x39. Guy was selling a buttload of South African .308 Battlepacks for $30/400. I don't have a 308 or I'd have been all over it.

Not much in the way of EBRs (since it is NY with the AWB and all). Saw a pair of UZIs, a bunch of neutered ARs and Pre-Ban ARs. Lots of thumbhole-stocked AKs. There was some kind of a semi-auto Bren there are well that looked pretty neat. Even saw a 1919A4 on one table.

I did find the one gun I was thinking of buying, a Kel-Tec Sub 2000. I asked the vendor if I could look at it and we went over it together. I was loving the whole thing until I shouldered it and looked through the sights. I had to bend my neck so far to the right and hold it back to get the sights to line up, it was terrible. The stock was pretty much resting on the top of my shoulder. Sadly, that ruined it for me and I had to pass on it.

Let's see, what else.....a whole bunch of vendors and an ungodly amount of people. I was one of the first in line and got out within an hour and a half when things started getting ridiculously crowded. About 90% of all long guns there were the wood and blued type, which really isn't my bag.

Not a bad show, too bad the sights were terrible on the Sub 2000 or I'd be fondling it in my lap and posting pics.

As my buddy Tman I and I always observe, "The difference in a good gun show and a bad gun show is one good deal."

Now that is very true.

Truth be told there were plenty of good deals to be found, I just didn't have the $$ to go for any of them .

Oh yeah, I forgot to add I saw a bunch of Steyr Augs, M16s, MP5s, SIG 500s and SIG 551s......

.......then I decided I was done looking at the airsoft table

sounds like a decent show, especially for one behind enemy lines.   the last show i went to in Ft. Lauderdale wasn't too bad, but ammo prices were OUTRAGEOUS.  It was like $4-5 per box of WOLF!  Even the cheap basement reloads were going for $.20/round and up.

I did leave that show with a SUB2000 and I'm very VERY happy about it!  I love my little SUB.  I see where you're comming from with the sights, but it's not that bad for me, maybe i'm a littler guy than you or something.  KT also makes a scope mount for that that holds a scope off partially to the side.  that might help you with aiming.  i wouldnt put a scope on there, but it's the kind of gun that begs for an EOthingie

I really wanted to buy the Sub 2000, but the aiming was just terrible. I'd love to throw an EOTECH on one, but can only really afford the gun or the sight, not both .

I may still buy the gun sometime, but just can't justify the purchase right now if I'm not 100% satisfied.

a snagged a Mauser at the Syracuse show once
I would have been there today but I don't have the money saved up to be buying guns right now, so it really wouldn't ahve been worth the gas costs and entry fee just to walk around looking
sucks too as there are 3 or 4 on my list
was that one AR dealer there with his illegally configured ARs?
I think he got arrested a few shows back but that doesn't always stop morons

If I recall he got into some shit last year.

I don't think he was there this year. There was a table of AR receiver kits on one side and uppers on the other. The uppers were non-neutered with all the goodies, so some ATF douche could probably argue for intent if you bought both simultaneously......

Syracuse show? I stopped going to that years ago. How far did you have to drive to get to it?
