I'm going to open a savings account with one of these, I've read good things about ING on here, but I'm wondering if anyone has any opinions of Emigrant-Direct? Are they trustworthy?

I also have ING, no problems ever, they also have a direct deposit form availible, so I get 15% of my pay automatically deposited, and the rest goes to my checking.

Hsbcdirect has better rates. Ing is a joke. Their mortgate products are lame.

I have a small account with EmigrantDirect, and I also know several others that do.  While the interest rate is great, none of us have been able to login to their online site since last October due to a problem with their "Forgotten Password System Signup System."  I don't exactly know what that is, but without it you can't login.  Also, none of us have received a single 1099 yet from Emigrant.  Make sure you save your last paper statement of the year for your taxes.  The two times I tried their phone support the several Mexican women I talked to had never heard of a 1099.  That's scary.  Also, since their online site doesn't work you can't add money to your account.  Make sure you transfer as much as you can initially because of that problem.  Since I haven't tried to take money out of my account yet, I have no idea how hard it is to get your money back from them.

Other than that, it's great.  They are a hassle to deal with, but considering they're currently paying 13.2 times the interest rate that my Wachovia checking account currently is, it's worth the extra hassle.z
