If illegal (and to an extent, even legal) mexican immigration is not stemmed, one thing is clear: whichever party most mexicans cling to will have almost total control of this nation within the next fifty years. Unfortunately, the huge majority of them identify as liberals.

There are two main ways that we can prevent this catastrophy:

- The RINO response (with the help of President Bush) seems to be along the lines of turning the idealogical tide: winning the "hearts and minds" of mexican voters and trying to bring them over to the conservative side, thus giving the Republican party a decidedly bright future. You have to realize that the overwhelming majority of mexicans are Catholic, and Catholic beliefs are essentially mirrored (to an extent) by conservative policies. The only reason they seem to be so liberal is the fact that leftists in the US have already "claimed" the pro-immigration side of this issue, due largely to their preferance for minorities/poor people. To some conservatives, it doesn't seem like a huge stretch to influence mexicans into embracing their basically conservative roots. While this approach is a decidedly big risk, it could pay off immensly if it works.

- The more traditionally direct/conservative approach to this problem is to simply stop the flow of immigration by sealing off the borders and putting an end to the practice of companies illegally hiring illegal immigrants. While this approach might not solve the problem more than it simply delays it substantially, it is still far less risky and more predictable.

Is it possible for the first option to ever work? I have my doubts, and I wish congress would embrace the latter option, but if the first option actually has some credibility, it could really pan out for us in the future if it works.

What say you?

IMO immigrants from Mexico are not the problem.

The problem is the government and culture wherever they end up setting shop up at.

Hispanics in Texas are far more conservative than Hispanics in California.

Right answer... wrong application

It's not the political affilliation of said government... it is the fact that the govenment is unwilling to authorize deadly force against foreign invaders.

They are gitting this "Reconquista" crap ingrained in them starting in the cradle.

They DO think CA, NV, NM, TX belongs to them. They all think this now.

WE are the enemies in thir minds. Never forget that.

+1, we need to take measures both to influence public opinion in our favor and physically restrict illegal immigration, with deadly force if necessary. We need to defend our borders. Other countries have shoot on sight policies when it comes to people trying to illegally cross the border, why haven't we done this ? I don't know which part of Illegal Immigration is tripping people up. The Illegal part means it's a crime. Simple enough, if you ask me. Deportation hasn't been working, IMO, the people just come right back.

The Mexican government has teats on which they suck on? If anything the US probably wastes more money on welfare than Mexico. Mexico justs wastes more money on corruption.

Teach them English first. When you can figure out how to do that we can talk about the enlightenment part.
