What if a rider was attached to the bill (illegals amnesty) that would:
Make post 86 machine guns once again available to us lowly civies... and/or Took suppressors of the NFA items list? Would you go for the giving amnesty to illegals if gun owners were given something in return? I know it would probably not pass with the riders, but we can always play make believe!

Those things should be done anyway on their own merits, not as a payoff to look the other way when a gross injustice is committed. |

Let's say that we all supported the amnesty in exchange for restoration of our pre-86 gun rights...
The next week, the aliens would still be "amnestied", but there would be a bill to reverse the restoration of our newly re-won rights. They would be laughing their sombreros/Birkenstocks off at our naivete'. |

No. Why should thousands of people who spend years and fill out much paperwork be penalized because they respect our country's laws whilst illegal immigrants get a free pass?

Just on general principle... no.
But hypothetically, even if something like that did pass; until the RKBA is ruled an individual right and subject to the protection under the 14th amendment, individual states could still ban or place heavy restrictions on NFA and post 86 items. |

What will really happen with amnesty is what has happened in CA. We will LOSE the gun rights we have.
CA has banned "assault weapons", AR's, .50BMG, no "right to carry", no high caps. Democrats maintain near total control. If you want to see where amnesty will take the US just look at California. |
