A friend of mine found part of the Brady campaign's website where they gave each state a letter grade based on their gun laws, and decided to make a map of it, with the color of each state corresponding to their grade. I thought you guys might find this interesting. www.legendsofwarsong.com/gunlawmap.jpg |
Don't you have to get some kind of special permit just to buy a handgun? |
Not if you have a CCW! |
While I haven't seen a map (someone should do one) I have seen a comparison of crime rates and Brady's grades. Quite revealing... the Brady F states generally had less crime, the A states more crime. Just what Lott said, More guns, less crime. |
That's funny. The lakes are green. |

Ok, this is kinda funny because as I hit 'reply,' I looked at a box of cereal on my desk and it has a US map on the side of it. The whole country is dark green... I'm having a vision... Now let's look at crime statistics in those red states. But I do like to stop by the Brady campaign website every now and then. They seem to think we're winning. |

If HF2688 passes Iowa will be a shade or two closer to Green. Shok |

Here's a crime rate I found: www.doc.state.ok.us/MAPS/incrimUS.htm Unfortunately it does not support the overall conclusion about guns and crime (either way). |

Hey friends, Here is a link to a relevant NRA fact sheet that deals with the Brady grading system. I'm sure that many here would enjoy looking through it for a bit, although this one is from '02 and therefore not currently accurate. http://www.davehayes.org/gallery2/d/3303-2/brady-vs-crime.png OK, I took the Brady Grades and state crime rates and dumped all the data into Excel and made a chart to compare the two. Here's what I got, and SURPRISE!!! Gun control doesn't work! |
