I recently aquired something amazing....its "Dark side of the moon" but in DVDA. Thats a DVD AUDIO disk, much better sounding than a CD and in the original quadraphonic sound as they recorded it. I must say that I am impressed with DVDA's now.

while I never got the alice in wonderland bit to work, I have gotten echoes to work with 2001 space oddesy. maybe you can find it on the web. back in 'the day' when I wasn't as smart as I am now, we were 'into' 'that' 'kida' stuff', Anyhow, at the begining of the tripped out space scene, you start echoes. IT works PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERFECTLY. And will freak out anyone on acid. ETA: only works with meddle echoes not the shortened echoes ont eh album echoes. and do yourslef a favor adn do it in THX preferably 7.1. WOW. |

My favorite Floyd is anything before The Wall. Absolutely all of the early stuff is top notch, The Wall and everything after totally sucks ginormous goat balls.
JMHO. |

Us and Them
Been a favorite of mine since my Marine Corps days. The Wall The Machine Wish You Were Here Money Actually, I really like just about everything from the Wish you were here album. One of my favorite groups. My kids call it "druggie music" |

Us and Them
(Waters, Wright) 7:40 Us, and them And after all we're only ordinary men. Me, and you. God only knows it's noz what we would choose to do. Forward he cried from the rear and the front rank died. And the general sat and the lines on the map moved from side to side. Black and blue And who knows which is which and who is who. Up and down. But in the end it's only round and round. Haven't you heard it's a battle of words The poster bearer cried. Listen son, said the man with the gun There's room for you inside. "I mean, they're not gunna kill ya, so if you give 'em a quick short, sharp, shock, they won't do it again. Dig it? I mean he get off lightly, 'cos I would've given him a thrashing - I only hit him once! It was only a difference of opinion, but really...I mean good manners don't cost nothing do they, eh?" Down and out It can't be helped but there's a lot of it about. With, without. And who'll deny it's what the fighting's all about? Out of the way, it's a busy day I've got things on my mind. For the want of the price of tea and a slice The old man died. |
Time, definitely.
Comforably Numb pulls a close second, however. |
"Sorrow" from A Momentary Lapse of Reason. I don't care if it's "real" Floyd or not.

ONE OF THIS DAYS-FROM MEDDLE
I have a 45 with "When the Tigers Broke Free" on it. It says " From the Final Cut" but my LP of The "Final Cut" does not include "When the Tigers Broke Free". Which is the rare one? I also have a T-shirt from the Berlin Wall performance of The Wall. Never worn, size large, Anyone want to trade gun stuff for Floyd stuff? I am sure Roger would appreciate. Thanks, Milton |
Two Suns in the Sunset
The Gunner's Dream both off The Final Cut |
In The Flesh?, theres just something about it I love.
Time Shine On You Crazy Diamond Comfortably Numb Wish You Were Here |
Pink Floyd is tied for first place for my all time favorite band.
I couldn't choose just one, or even five "favorites". Pink Floyd, Led Zep and Rush all had fairly equal parts in shaping who I am. Wierd that music has so much power. |
It's a toss up, between "Dogs of War" and "Sorrow".
Then of course, there's "Comfortably Numb". |
I like that live album*double disk*I can listen to that over and over.
Odd, my favorite ex firlfriend and I were just discussing this yesterday. Back when we used to live together our entire universe consisted of gallons of Jack Daniels, a Dodge RAM 50 pickup and a soundtrack made almost exlcusively of Zepplin, Floyd, and tons of Southern Rock.....we don't remember much of it but the bits we do recall were very wierd and wild...... |
I take it you got the box set? There's one or two CD's FULL of syd barret pre-62 (?) stuff. |
'Shine On You Crazy Diamond'
'Welcome To Machine' 'The Division Bell' Top3. many others which could qualify as well. |
Had one of the t-shirts wore it out. |

The Wall
Dark Side of the Moon eta: yeah, so they're album names.. I couldn't pick just one song! |
+1 I have the full Tigers Broke free (Parts I, II, III) from the live Berlin wall, and a Studio version by Waters, in addition to the "chopped up one" from The Wall #2: Mother, acoustic version (as in movie) #3:, Album "The Final Cut", tune: "Final Cut" (sigline is from "Possible pasts") |
"Tigers Broke Free" was originally going to be on the album "The Final Cut". It is now on "The Wall". Your vinyl 45 is the rare one. I'll give you $1 for it. In the same vein, "The Final Cut" was going to be the movie instead of "The Wall". They decided it wasn't interesting enough (a movie tribute to a guys father), so they mixed together some writings and came up with The Wall soundtrack, which is about a rockstar who lost his father in a war, had an overprotective mother, is famous, doesn't know why, and hates it, so he withdraws. The Final Cut was the last album recorded with the original members, after The Wall came out, but many of the songs were already written before The Wall was. Example: In the movie "The Wall", when Pink is in the stadium bathroom stall singing, he is mumbling lines from a song on Waters' Solo Album "Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking". --ETA: They made a mini-movie of The Final Cut, posted online, it is about 20 minutes, located here: www.pinkfloyd.co.uk/theFinalCut/ |

I really like Shine on you Crazy Diamond, but I believe it was released on the Wish You Were Here album. My other favorite off the same album is Have a Cigar.
