Even a cobra sleeps from time to time.  The pictures, especially of pit bulls with children, prove how stupid and careless the parents are.  Tell me, just how does a 2-year old child assert his dominance over a pitbull, when the pitbull challenges it, you stupid person.  If there is not a clear pack leader in the family, the dog will take the place.  If you are in the kitchen when your two year old is alone with the dog, and the dog gets the idea it wants to be pack leader, your child is f*cked, you friggin idiot.

I’ve only been around a few Pit Bulls in my life and I don’t claim to be any kind of expert. These are just my observations and speculations from my limited experiences.

I think the problem is that many Pit Bulls are gentle even tempered dogs; all of the ones I’ve been around have been anyway. So the owners don’t see how their lovable pooch can go totally batshit insane. And their particular Pit Bull probably won’t.

Any dog that isn’t properly socialized is likely to challenge a human to one degree or another. And if that dog is a Pit Bull then someone’s gonna get hurt or killed. Part of it is that the Pit Bull is so dang powerful that it can take you down if it decides to. And the other part is that (again in my experiences) Pit Bulls just aren’t either scared or apprehensive of humans, or much else. Maybe that’s why they are so even tempered when they are properly socialized.

And there are a lot of nitwits out there who don’t properly socialize their dogs and actually go out of their way to try and make them mean. And that’s a recipe for disaster.

I don’t like the precedent of banning a particular breed, especially when it won’t do no good. If the assholes who want a vicious dog can’t get a Pit Bull they will get an Akita or something else and proceed to train and breed it to be vicious.
