I don't know anything about them.

People I know say there are good ones, and bad ones.
But they don't even know what the good ones are, because they say their's isn't on of them.

I need something that can do a good job of sucking water out of a carpet after my
basement floor gets wet.

Does anyone have a shop vac that they would say is good at this task?

I have a Rigid Shop Vac 6 gal. and it has worked well on a bare concrete floor. Don't know about carpet. Don't know if this is too small for you, but it perfect for my needs.

Bonus. At Home depot you get a $20 home depot gift card if you buy one there (~$40)

I would go to Sears and buy the biggest one and try it , if it won't do the job bring it back for a refund.
