Vasque, hands down most comfortable boots I have ever worn. A little pricey but worth it.

 Anyone can say what they want about China-Mart, ...The waterproof insulated boots I got last winter from there were bottom line, the BEST I've ever worn. Life's a bitch when somone makes a better mousetrap, I guess. |

Vasque is a great boot, but they don't fit me at all. I got about 700 miles out of my first pair of Merrill's with no break-in. That's all I've bought since. Edited because original post made me sound like I hike 1,000's of miles a year and I don't. |

I have a Cabela's brand pair of hiking boots that I love. I wore them to work today, in fact! I don't think they offer this particular pair anymore, but their brands have a lot of the same features as the "premium boots"
Cabela's = $120 Fancy pants brand $175 and up. |

I have a pair of Vasque boots but I prefer my waterproof leather New Balance MW976BG for trails. Street price is around $100.

Above all, fit is the most important.
Vasque Asolo Danner Do NOT buy Timberlands. I wore out a pair of their $180 hiking boots in just TWO short 10-day jaunts into the backcountry. Granted, my trips are no walk in the park (in the backcountry in mountainous regions, with about 30 lbs of gear) but I expect more from a $180 pair of boots. |

I have had great success with Asolo FSN 95s. Very comfortable and long lasting. They're available at REI.

I would recommend ANYTHING from the Limmer line. I went the overkill route in getting the Limmer Boot Standards but I like the solid foundation they provide quite a bit even though I primarily use them when hunting or backpacking, and don't do any mountaineering. You can't go wrong with traditional craftsmanship and custom feel. Make sure to get them a little oversized, because you'll probably want to wear heavy socks with them.
If you don't wanna spend that much, I kinda like the Asolos. I wore a pair of them for about 10 years, and would still be wearing them now if the stitching hadn't given out and the liner worn through. I'd recommend the model, but they dont make it anymore. |

I wouldn't trade my Kayland Contact 2500Ks for anything. Pricey ($235 I think) but more than worth it.

The Cresta or Vasque hikers. They might be a little more pricey but you can return them in the future with no problems if your not 100% satisfied and get a full refund. |
