Got the itch again, and the "honey-don't-know-fund" is about $600

Here's what I got:

pistols: 9mm, .38, .357, .45acp
rifles: 10/22, 9mm semi, 30-30 lever, .308 bolt-action, mak-90 (ak variant), and twin ar15's.
other: 12 ga with two barrels

What I want:

FAL
Springfield M1A1
XD45
.22 pistol
???

Any input? I leaning towards a Century/Imbel FAL for $539 at the local funshop, or saving for a M14 reproduction...gotta get a battle rifle, right?

How about you buy a couple thousand rounds
of ammo, and, get something nice for the wife?

I have plenty of ammo (if there is such a thing) and the wife got something nice the day I said "I do".

A "Honey don't know about fund" and
1 whole present on your wedding?

Boy, she can sure pick 'em.

Yeah, but she gets that present several times a month, whether she needs it or not.

I'd look at a Ruger MkII or something like that, hookers and blow are always nice as well.

How about some disaster supplies, in the event of a downturn in the natural course of events.

Take a .22 pistol, the most "bang" for your buck in my opinion, you can shoot all day on a couple bucks.

I am going to go with something that is not on your list.  Get an M1 Garand.  You have enough money to get one from CMP.  This certainly would quality as the battle rifle that you want.

I would stock up on ammo if I had $600.00

Take my advice, without ammo your rifle is just a club

Like my neighbor said during the Y2K scare, "We stocked up for it. Did You stock up on non perishibles and drinking water?"

My reply: " No. I've got guns and ammo and I know you don't. I'll just come take your shit."

His wife is a liberal school teacher and won't allow guns in the home (of course she calls me when a rottwieler is loose in her yard.

roy d.....with the big picture.

FAL.

Looks like you need a 308 battle rifle and I seriously doubt you'll get a SA M1A1 for ~$600. FAL is a great shooter, cheap mags, lots of spare parts around.

Don't know how Century Arms are now but they had some issues with their FALs in the past. Find someone who builds them (or you can build your own) and you should get one in that price.

My only dilema with the FAL is the inevitable fundage it takes to keep another rifle well fed and dressed. They are like kids after all.

Then why was it in your list then? You clearly aren't capable of handling this kind of responsibility.  Either buy something nice for your obviously longsuffering wife or upgrade one of your toys somehow (scope, etc.). Or just buy mags and ammo.
