Watched it last weekend. Sucked. Hated it.

Synopsis:

"Guns are bad, mkay?"

Yes you get to see some cool hardware, but nothing amazing. Might be a decent watch with the sound turned off.

Is it the standard formula for baiting us with gun action commercials only to have it be a demonization of guns slant flick?

Guns bad, people with guns bad, guns kill children, guns make people evil, people with guns are evil.

So, what was good about it?

Great gun porn.
I found it interesting, especially the parts in Liberia and the ways Nicholas Cage keeps getting over on the UN.

I enjoyed the part where he was made to kill his competition.

How he out witted the agent for so long

How he was let go after , well watch the movie.

As far as guns being bad, well they were used in a bad way in this movie now weren't they ?

To say guns are portrayed as bad so I won't watch it , well just throw out your TV then.

Ya because stopping the illegal gun trade around the world is such a bad thing.

I thought it was a pretty good movie.

I thought it was more anti-illegal arms trade.

Selling AKs to African warlords to arm 13 year old kids is bad, don't care what your stance on the 2nd Amendment is.

pretty good movie, not incredible or anything. Just entertaining

I watched the movie recently. I honestly did not get any anti-gun messages or impressions from the movie. It is more daming of the gruesome violence and incivility of african conflicts, the corruption in the former soviet states, and the ineptitude of the UN/BATF. The only thing that pissed me off was the lame insinuations that the US gov is responsible for privateer gun running, etc. Kind of michael mooreish but other then that, not really anti-gun.

The movie and the publicity about it by its director didn't really sync well. It's pretty obvious from the movie that people are going to get killed regardless of whether there are AK's or machetes-that the evil of man is responsible for killings, not just the inanimate gun. Yet the director made public comments about how guns were the real problem. It's a weird disconnect.

I would watch it. Its an OK movie, I give it a 7 outta 10. Might as well since you have a copy

Its good entertainment, you now , Hollywood. A small escape from reality.

If you want reality, watch the news, well some of it anyway.

Great gun porn, a little history, nice camera work, especially the opening credits.

Edited to add---  It was also very well acted with believable characters.

*SPOILER ALERT*

The only part that got me was when the Group of thugs were "Waiting" to get the guns so they could kill the 50 odd, defenseless pleople in that camp.  They already machetted down two of them and could have easily commided their crime with machettes. (As they do in real life).  It just made the viewer think that they HAD to have the guns to commit the crime.

*END SPOILER ALERT*

Other than that,  it was really against the arms trade in general and that guns (and wars) are only used as political bargaining chips.

I thought it was pretty good,

it does a good job of showing the assholes that try to ban guns, like when nicholas cage was telling the agent  that  what he was doing was legal and the agent basically said I dont care you evil, its a BS loophole,

So even this agent knew that this guy was evil in his opinion, this guy didnt have the balls to do the right thing a bust him by any means possible.

Cage does a good job of making him look like an ass throughout the whole movie. i find it funny that he believes guns are evil, and cause pain, but is walking around with an hk mp5PDW.  so its ok for you to have one but not anyone else?

It's got Nicolas "Cage" Coppolla in it....it can't be any good.

Guy couldn't act his way out of a paper bag and how he ever won an oscar is beyond me.

entertaining at best
somewhat paraphrased: "six billion people in the world.  Enough firerms to arm one in every twelve. How do we arm the other eleven?"   N. Cage.........

The director is anti-gun and he wanted to get non-guns for the movie. He found it was cheaper buying real AK's.

Movie makers get to have all the fun!

... Not bad, even though I'm not of big fan of Nicholas Cage.

... Seemed fairly plausible and realistic except for a few stinky parts.

It was lame and stupid propaganda picture designed to advance the UN small arms program described here:www.iansa.org/un/. It was dumb on many levels, such as the idea that AKs are highly profitable in the arms trade. If you want to make serious bank you sell more complex weapons or training, because that's where the high margin items are.

Avoid. Steal and burn any copies you may find at the video store.

I hated it. Not for any perceived anti-gun agenda - just because it was BORING as piss. The characters came off totally flat and uninteresting. Normally you're supposed to have some kind of emotion about the characters, but I could have cared less if he got locked up or got away with everything. I just wanted the movie to end. The story, which spanned decades, seemed to speed up at the wrong parts and slow down and drag at others. Poor execution overall. F-

I thought the movie was watchable, but the special features are interesting.... In the weapons profile section it says that the M16 shoots 7.62 form a 100 belt feed.....   and shows it w/ an m203 attached (without mentioning it.

It was almost as good as Runaway Jury.

Other than the anti-gun undertones, it was absolutely pointless.
