I have heard that supported Prone is the most accurate position, I normally shoot from benchrest.  Figured I would try some prone next weekend at a arfcom carolinas shoot.

I practice prone, kneeling behind the benchrest (kneeling from cover) and kneeling.

I suck at shooting from a standing position if I'm shooting at anything more than 25 yards away.

Supported prone.

but, my offhand is getting better.  i've finally gotten scores in the 90s offhand with an Anschutz @ 10m in a pellet rifle match...that is some hard stuff.

I like rifle-sitting cross legged.  I am not going to say I am deadly accurate 100% like that, but I like it.

the only time I shoot from the bench is for sighting in, and to check zero. 95% of my shooting is offhand, sometimes I will sit or prone out. I cant shoot kneeling for my life.....?

Thanks, now it makes since

I couldnt figure out how he explained it.  I will try that next weekend, Im working on better accuracy and more confortable positions.  I mainly shoot benchrest, but with my latest addition of a remington 700, I want to see what kind of groups I can get.

I can't stand shooting from a bench unless I am testing a firearm, loads, or zeroing. I'm often the only one shooting offhand, prone, or sitting at the range. If I am going to throw lead down range I at least want to work on my shooting skills as I do it (no criticism intended towards benchrest shooters, children, or beginners, just the fat assed hunters and wanna be ninjas)...

Army qualifications are shot in the prone supported on sandbags and from a premade fighting position.

I do most of my shooting off hand (standing). I figure if I can get hits unsupported, shooting from a more stable platform will be a piece of cake. I shoot from other positions from time to time just to practice those positions.
