my friend also started making this thing, it's a rocket launcher that you would probably see insurgents using , i think he did a pretty good job on this one, what do you think?

That is excelent work but I wouldn't want it in a game as it is whay to high poly.

I'm not quite sure what that means.

There is to many Polygons in the model.

It will cause FPS loss on lower end machines.

That and lot the of the detail is unnessarcy with a good UV map.

BTW I saw this on insurgency a week or 2 ago.

that's an awesome gun you posted, it would be cool if he made that into a 3D Model, and yeh the weapon is way to high poly for a game, i think it was just intended to look nice, maybe for realistic animations and such

I cant wait for games to look that good, that will be a long way away from pong, or mario

Folding tail fins are missing on the grenade. They should be at the very end and extend out after firing.

The things that look like fins on the grenade are actually propellant nozzles and he has way too many.

+1

And the nozzles are a tad too big if my memory serves me. But fine work though on your model.

You can play games that look that good if you have the hardware to do it.

yeah yoru right, i think he might know that he dosn't have that part done, it says the mdoel isn't finished but i dunno, i'll let him know tho ;)

the fins on the rocket kinda look a bit big here too, but i see what u mean, on the model, they look kinda oversized , good eye ;)

Ah, makes me want to dust off 3d studio max. That rpg must be at least in the neighborhood of 10k-20k poly's though.
Link Posted: 3/10/2006 3:31:12 PM EDT
yeah, i don't think it's meant for games... more or less 3D animations and stuff where quality really matters

what kinda models did you make with max??
Link Posted: 3/10/2006 5:51:41 PM EDT
I learned it to do some firearms for an attempted ghost recon mod I was part of several years ago. Aside from that I just played around modeling household objects to get the hang of the program.

nice .. i need to learn texturing now, so i can texture my own models and stuff, getting someone else to do it just dosn't cut it

i'm gonna try to make a AR15 next ;) or ak-47

opps, i'm gonna touch up the briefcase a bit, it needs a little arm type thing to hit the trigger of the uzi when it's cased up, knoww hat i mean?

One thing to note: There is no such thing as a Mac 11 Uzi. A Mac is an entirely different critter than an Uzi. Not even close.

+1, and like JBowles said you don't need that much detail in the model, you just need to learn how to texture effectively. The models look great, but it's overkill. The real art comes into finding the right mixture between poly count and texture IMO.

oh .. i been calling it a Mac 11 uzi for a while .. so it's just a Mac 11?

lol check this out , Legos who Kill , not really it's just a lego guy 3D Model with the Mac 11's ;)
