My desktop computer makes it through booting and displays the "welcome" xp screen and then the wallpaper.  That is where it stops progressing.  I just installed a program (www.free-av.com) and I am certain it caused this.  It was giving this computer issues also but I managed to be able to boot and remove it.
Is there a way to boot the computer up so that this program is not loading by default?  Any way to delete it without going into windows?  Any idea how to boot the computer into windows so I Can make the repairs?  Ive been messing with it for like 40 min with no success.

Dowload Winpatrol ( do a search) it will let you control what programs run at startup so maybe you can intall that program and it wont mess your computer up.  It is an invaluable tool to keep your computer faster on startup.

You can also do that with msconfig.
