20 dollar Timex from Wally-World.

I wear cheap watches for the same reason I
wear cheap sunglasses.

I'm going to break or lose them in short order, so,
I just avoid paying big bucks for them in the first place.

But, KNOWING that you had a nice watch/sunglasses, wouldn't you take better care and pay more attention?

Oakley Juliets w/ polarized ICE lenses. I've had my pair for 5 years, worn nearly every day. It's saved my eyes on more than one occasion, be it brass, jacket fragments, flying gravel, etc.....

Depends on what I'm wearing. I have about a dozen watches, they have become a collection for me like firearms.  I love Seiko Divers, I have 4 of them. I also love my Hamilton Khaki Field Chrono and Hamilton mechanical watches ( I have 3). I also have a few Pulsar's and a couple no name brands. I have at least 5 or 6 more on a list to get before I die; but, the one that I am waiting to arrive is this one:

The same ladies' Rolex I've had for 23 years.

BUT!  I'd never buy another one!
The thing needs refurbished and calibrated every year or two, which works out to costing me nearly a dollar a day for the "privilege" of wearing a status symbol which loses or gains about 1 or 2 minutes a week at best.  (I understand that the larger men's rolexes are sturdier and more reliable.

PLUS!!!  about every three to nine months or so my vintage Rolex loses its mind and stops working,  requiring a return trip to the watch shop.  (No charge, but mighty inconvenient)

My only other watch is my (inheritted) mil spec WWII Army Air Corp officers' watch, which keeps better time than the Rolex, and I an damn proud to wear it when the (feminine, business dress) Rolex is in the shop!

Until this past Christmas I wore a cheap timex. When the battery died, I would throw it in a drawer and forget it about it. Get tired of never knowing the time, I would go buy a new one as I couldn't find the old one.
Last year for christmas the ol'man bought me a citizens echo drive. Hopefully this will be the last watch I ever have to buy.

The two brands I've enjoyed for the past 3 or 4 years are Invicta and Trias. Both companies produce mechanical/automatic watches at a reasonable price (usually less than $400.00).

One of these three, depending on what I'm doing. L-R is a Tag 2000, Seiko SKX173, and a County Comm modified G-Shock Milshock.

Someday I'll own an Omega Seamaster. This is my current choice (pic taken from ebay)
They go for a little over 2 grand, somewhere between Tag and Rolex IMHO...

Man I have one of those!
I bought it in Florida in 1993. The thing has been through two motorcycle racing crashes, ground down one side of it so far you can't read the "Casio", cracked the face diving at about 100 feet on a big rock at the bottom of the Blue Hole in Sanata Rosa New Mexico, still never leaked. Kept perfect time, the battery only died LAST YEAR! More than 10 years. That is one tough watch. I need to send it back to casio to have the battery replaced and the crystal replaced. They have a $39 flat maintenance fee for whatever it needs. Almost just because of sentimental value now.

I bought a Casio Marine Gear 100m dive watch to replace it. Another tough watch, never had a problem. I tell you Casio may not be anywhere near a Rolex or swiss made anything, maybe a "cheapie" watch, but their watches are an incredible value IMO. They just keep on running. I have spent far more on watches that just didn't last. Including the TAG I bought for my wife.

Which version of the Planet Ocean do you want; the 42mm or the 45mm? Great watch they retail for $3400, but can be bought for around $2400.  I want one also, as well as the standard Seamaster 300m Diver, commonly referred to as the James Bond watch, which can be bought for about $1400.

I think the 45mm might look a bit too big, I'm going to say 42mm for now, as it's still a full size watch and not a "midsize".

The 45mm is a lot of watch. It makes anything smaller look like a girls watch.  I was considering it when I ordered my Railmaster and I still want one.  But, I went with the Railmaster first since it is a watch I can take from jeans to black tie.  The Planet Ocean makes a definate statement and would be fine with a suit, but is probably better suited for the Orvis look.  I'll probably look into buying it next year.  Followed by a Speedmaster "Moon watch" and the Bond watch.  Watch collecting has the same symptoms as BRD.

I haven't worn a watch in a couple years at least.  If I need to know what time it is and I'm not near a computer, clock, or in my car, I just check the time on my cell phone.  I have a nice Seiko but the battery is dead.  Guess I should get it changed.
